Are you an over breather? Are you breathing optimally or furthering dysfunctional breathing patterns? We have been told to take deep breaths and have been led to believe that more breathing is best. What we have been told is wrong.
In this episode, Andrew and Jacob go over some of the dysfunctional breathing habits that many of us have acquired and share some tips on how to overcome those. You will also learn about the blood chemistry that is involved in order to ensure that you're efficiently using the oxygen that you're bringing in.
3 takeaways;
- Breathing through your nose as much as possible. Bring awareness to nasal breathing, at rest, during exercise as much as possible, and at night all the time.
- Breathing horizontally and into the belly and ribs. Avoid breathing into the chest.
- Slow your breath down. Optimal breathing is 5-7 breaths per minute and if we're "over breathers" we're often breathing up to 40 breaths per minute!
Those 3 will solve biochemical issues, mechanics, and also get you back into a parasympathetic state and will have you operating at a much higher level.
