In today's episode I am joined by Duke University pitching coach Chris Gordon. Chris and I go back to our days coaching against each other in the Alaska Baseball League in the summers of 2011 and 2012. In our conversation, Chris walks me through his path in coaching, which started at the high school level, with stops at the NAIA level, division one volunteer assistant, director of baseball operations, and now the pitching coach at Duke in the ACC. This conversation is valuable for anyone new to coaching, working their way up through the coaching ranks, or someone who may be trying to find the best path for yourself. Chris gives some really terrific information for coaches at all levels who are trying to navigate this career. As difficult as finding your way in coaching can be, with no clear cut roadmap to "moving up," the information and emphasis Chris puts on areas you may not even think about as being valuable are prime examples of what has made him successful and has helped promote him to his position at Duke. This was an awesome coaching conversation and I really believe you will find a lot of value in the information Chris provides. Enjoy!
