Many years ago, I received a letter from my cousin asking, “Why did Jesus have to die on the cross? Why the gory, bloody details?” Wow. It was such a good question -- and such an honest question. Maybe you’ve had that same question, too.

Well, I knew God had a reason for it -- after all He doesn’t make mistakes and He knows everything -- but I wanted to make sure I could explain it accurately to her...and understand it for myself! 

So, I spent some time in prayer, seeking answers and studying God’s Word -- and on today’s Basics Tuesdays episode, I’m sharing the revelation God gave me all those years ago on this massively important, but BASIC subject.

Let’s be honest, nobody wants to talk about the “s” word, but Basics Tuesdays are all about studying the Bible together -- and the Bible clearly tells us, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23, NKJV) 

> So, if we’ve all done it, what’s the big deal? 

> What actually is “sin?”

> And what in the world are we supposed to do about it?  

We’ll dig into the Bible to answer all of these questions and more in today’s program! I know it doesn’t sound like the most fun topic -- but I promise you’ll be so encouraged by this message.

• Let’s study the Bible together! For real. Let’s dig into God’s Word to learn about the most important “basic” of all -- JESUS! There are lots of opinions about who Jesus is, did He really ever claim to be God and is He really the “only way” to the Father and to eternity in Heaven?  Today, let’s examine God’s Word scripture by scripture to discover the truth for ourselves. 

We’re covering the topic today of “How do I become a Christian?” Here’s a little spoiler alert...it’s NOT by being born in America, it’s NOT by being raised in the church, it’s NOT by being a good person and it’s NOT about what your parents or family believes. 

To become a Christian, it’s all about Jesus. 

And, by then end of today’s 25 minute study, you’ll be able to answer these important questions: 

1. What did Jesus say about himself?
2. What did others say about Jesus?
3. What do YOU say about Jesus?
