The Battle of Lissa is seldom remembered outside of naval circles or even amongst the peoples of the respective combatants involved but it was an engagement that seemed to show that traditional naval warfare was being turned on its head thanks to new technologies that somewhat ironically, forced naval commanders to revert to the ancient tactic of ramming enemy ships.
