In our first ever live recording of the BCTLE Podcast, Timothy sits down with 5 newer Taylor faculty (4 years or less at Taylor) to discuss their perspectives on faith integration, as developed and shaped through conversations on campus and through the faculty course on faith integration. Those 5 faculty are Denise Flanders, Melissa Jessup, Peter Staritz, Benjamin Wetzel, and Cheryl Thompson.

The script is flipped for this episode of the podcast as Timothy answers questions about a recent trip to the archives with the BCTLE to explore what teaching excellence has looked like at Taylor over the years.

Dr. Chris Kellner is this week's New Faculty Voice and the last new faculty voice of the semester.

On this week's episode, Timothy sits down with Dr. Jan Dormer and Dr. David McGinness to unpack their recent GHS on Meeting the Needs of International Students. They explore the motivation behind their work and introduce some important tools and skills that faculty could implement immediately to start meeting some of the needs their international students face in the classroom.

In episode 22, Timothy talks with three Taylor international students about what it is like to learn in a different culture. Students discuss their perspective and their experience, as well as offer advice for faculty so that they can best serve international students in the future.  

The New Faculty Voice in this episode is Shannon Brooks, the Director of the Zondervan Library. Shannon provides insight into what the integration of faith and learning looks like in the library, and shares how students can carry what they learn from the library into the their future. 

In this week's episode, Timothy sits down with David Dunham, Academic Engagement Librarian, and Dr. Jeff Groeling, Professor of Communication, for a conversation about the evolution of a personal perspective of faith-learning integration. We know that we are constantly growing and as our understanding of faith and our discipline grows, our understanding of the integration of the two ought to grow as well. Also in this episode is Timothy's conversation with Dr. Jewerl Maxwell, Provost. Timothy and Jewerl explore the provost's perspective on faith-pedagogy integration and where the University has opportunities ahead for the development of strategy, integrity, and trust.

The segment New Faculty Voices returns this episode with an introduction to Dr. Margaret Chasara, Assistant Professor of Economics.

Episode 20 features a collection of segments from our current series, New Faculty Voices. These discussions revolve around the integration of faith, teaching, calling, and profession and feature Hannah Richardson, Amber Stanley, Scott Fenstermacher, and Evidence Matangi. The episode concludes with a conversation between Timothy and our new assistant producer, Mackenzie Derico. 

Following her recent BCTLE Guest Host Session, Dr. Barb Bird returns to the podcast to talk with Timothy about a collaborative annotation tool and how it is changing the way her students engage with readings and with each other. Dr. Bird has appeared on episode 12 of the podcast and is the director of the Bedi Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence at Taylor.

Koert Verhagen is our New Faculty Voice this episode. Koert teaches philosophy and religion. He is no stranger to Taylor as a Taylor grad and former assistant director of the Irish Studies Program. 

In this episode, Timothy chats with Dr. Tricia Stan, Associate Professor of Chemistry, to learn more about how Tricia mentors her Women of Chemistry group on campus in a way that not only creates opportunities for scholarship, career development, and personal growth, but discipleship as well.

Laura Gerig is the New Faculty Voice in episode 18. Laura is a Taylor grad and teaches in the Psychology department. Her contribution to Taylor is a lot like coming home for her and we are so fortunate to have her in the Taylor family. Her perspective is critical to our students' success and her heart for relationships and the Lord create amazing opportunities for whole person education.

In the first episode of the fall term, Timothy chats with Dr. Angela Pacheco, assistant professor of Spanish, on the topic of her recent BCTLE guest host session. Much has been said about the importance of students developing a growth mindset versus a fixed mindset. Angela encourages faculty to consider the importance of having a growth mindset about our students. 

This episode introduces a new segment on the podcast called New Faculty Voices, where you can hear from one of our new faculty to get to know them a bit more. This week's new faculty voice is Shelly Engle. Shelly is a new assistant professor of Education with over a decade of K-12 education experience. Her passion for developing relationships and trust with her students exemplifies what it looks like to have a growth mindset about our students, no matter where they are at.

In the final installment of the BCTLE mini-series on the mission statement of Taylor, Timothy sits down with Greg Dyson, Maribel Magallanes, and Nate Chu to hear a perspective on what world and what needs we can be thinking about when we think about a globally minded institution. 

This is also the final installment of the summer series of the BCTLE podcast. Timothy is going to be taking a short break and will be back to a bi-weekly schedule this coming semester.
