Carrie Bloss serves as Executive Director of Heights and Hills, an organization whose mission is to support older adults age successfully in their Brooklyn communities. She has dedicated her over 20-year career to addressing the needs of New York's most vulnerable people.
She most recently co-led Project Hospitality as their Executive Director, heading up PH’s executive management team, overseeing the organization’s programs, finance, and operations functions. The organization is focused on services in Staten Island and offers a comprehensive continuum of compassionate care that begins with street outreach, shelter, and soup kitchen and food pantry, and extends to treatment, other clinical and support services, and transitional and permanent supportive housing. In addition to modernizing the agency’s infrastructure, Carrie relocated programs to spaces that better meet client needs and entered into a joint venture to develop supportive housing. Carrie also worked with the senior leadership to address the agency culture. Together they built lines of communication, trust, and greater collaboration between staff and across departments.
Carrie was previously at Breaking Ground for over 11 years in multiple roles. As Vice President of Leasing and Compliance she oversaw internal evaluation for all service areas, the organization’s affordable housing and government contract compliance, and the government grants management function. In a prior role, she managed several housing programs including a former Bowery lodging house that housed several dozen single men, mostly in their 60’s.
Carrie also worked at the New York City Department of Homeless Services and Children’s Rights, Inc. She currently sits on the board of directors of the Sisters of Charity Housing Development Corporation-Manhattan and the Columba Kavanagh House and previously served as a board member of New York Therapeutic Communities.
She received a Bachelor of Arts from Carleton College in Minnesota and a Master of Public Policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School.
Carrie lives in Park Slope with her husband Mike and their two children and can often be found on a run in Prospect Park.
