  • Episode 169 Being Real with Kristin Torva Logan
In the first segment of Being Real with, I bring in a powerhouse woman to share her experience with cancer and the health care system here in Canada.
I truly have struggled to find the words to capture this situation Kristin Torva Logan is experiencing and I can’t seem to break it down in a few paragraphs but I’m going to try.
Truly an episode worth tuning in to understand the depth of insanity our country is in & how it is truly affecting or will affect every day Canadians.
In 2023 she started experiencing excruciating pain in her side and began a long journey of no answer for over 5 months. Being diagnosed with everything but what was actually happening and no one taking her seriously about her situation.
After the summer passed and they were settling into life as empty nesters, Torva woke one night & drove herself to the hospital after experiencing the most excruciating pain in her abdomen.
After not being listened to again & 5 doctors later, she found out she had fluid on her lungs & around her abdomen and it was thickening.
    Unfortunately indications of cancer.
She was absolutely floored by this news. Not only was she a healthy, young individual, she had been screaming for help for months and ignored or misdiagnosed and here she was… absolutely right about something being wrong MONTHS ago.
A few weeks later she got the confirmation it was Stage 4 high grade serous carcinoma, the most aggressive moving ovarian cancer.
They needed to act immediately. But of course, thanks to our ā€œfree health care systemā€ fast wasn’t an option.
So after being told essentially to flee the country to get treatment, Torva & her family were in a race for their lives to get her sorted and in for surgery.
By some sort of divine intervention, Torva was reminded she had access to US Vet benefits & could get treatment immediately in Washington.
Although relieved, they still had to face the logistics, the stress of moving her in such a delicate state, they have bills to pay, a new university student to support & also have to be separated through it all too.
But as the absolute bad asses they are, the Logans made it happen. They got her to the hospital, in surgery, chemo treatment and all the support she so needed from Canada.
I cannot fit this all into a small box on these apps. Her story is truly one you need to hear from her & it’s still going yall. She still has one chemo treatment left as of this launch so please head to her instagram @ torvalogan or our support highlight to help support her go fund me as they face so many road blocks to get her healed ā™„ļø
This babe has such a huge purpose on this earth. Let’s help support her to health so she can continue on her journey & to live her purpose of now helping others in this situation.
The ripple effect could be huge here babes. Let’s put all we got into this one šŸ«¶šŸ»

  • Episode 167 SZN 6 Finale
Our finale episode of season 6 comes with some sad news!
Throughout the year our amazing co hosts have all stepped back, and our final co host Hails is next to step back so I (B) will be taking over the entire show ā™„ļø
As mentioned previously, the babes who’ve single handily built this show and community are busy blossoming in their lives and I could not be happier for them and more thankful for the endless help and support from all of them and completely understand their need to all step back and focus on their lives.
I would not be here today with them 🄰
But where does that leave the podcast?
Do I step up and take over for the next 4 seasons to do the 10 I set out to do?!
Or is this the final chapter of Be Real Babe?
You’ll have in tune into this episode to find out what’s happening in 2024 ā™„ļø
Thanks again Hails 🄰 I know this won’t be the last show you’ll be ok but you will be heavily missed during this chapter 😘

  • Episode 166 Keeping up with šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦ Part V
In our final episode of keeping up with Canada of the season we talk about a TON OF SHIT.
But mainly we are talking the outcomes of the pandemic and the behaviours that followed.
We chat about working through and giving forgiveness for the treatment to unvaxxed during during that time.
What we think could cause people to awaken versus why they may not. We chat about how we’ve come to see the education system as indoctrination camps sometimes vs helping the world.
It’s like our whole world view was shattered in 2020 and we closed 2023 and began 2024, it’s important to reflect how we put the pieces back together.
Let’s start with kindness and empathy and less rage and finger pointing. Let’s come together ti see why we all acted the way we did and if we inflicted pain on others, we truly need to reflect on that internally and make amends.
No one likes being left alone or feeling lonely these times. Let’s work extra hard this year to ensure less people feel the sadness next holiday season!

  • Episode 165 BII in the Big Apple
On our final advocacy episode of the season, we bring an amazing woman on to share her journey with Breast Implant Illness & Breast Cancer.
Stephanie, like our past guests, was not informed of the potential risks associated with Breast Implants.
As far as she knew, she got the safest ones.
However, after swapping from saline to silicone 8 years after her original implant, her health started slowly declining.
When she did they swap, they noticed fluid around her implants, unsure exactly what it was they decided to go ahead with the switch.
Dial ahead to 2019, Stephanie finds herself in a group of 50-100K women with the same issues, leading to Breast Implant illness.
She does her research, finds herself a surgeon she trusts and BAM, lockdowns. Luckily in early 2020 she was able to line up a surgeon closer to home and aligned with her needs but a few weeks later gets hit with another blow.
    Breast cancer.
This woman is a powerhouse survivor and a beauty of a human being.
Join her and I as we discuss her entire journey, her battles and her victories.
A story with a feel good ending and a warrior born out of her pain. šŸ‘

  • Episode 163 Being Real with Open Minds Podcast
    Happy Holidays all!
Our last being real with before the Christmas break is with fellow podcaster Christopher Balkaran who hosts the Open Minds Podcast.
It was so great to connect to another Canadian podcaster as we navigate these uncharted waters here in this country of ours. As citizens and content creators.
In this 2 hour real chat, we talk about so many different topics like how the media has been unable to provide unbiased reporting, how this country has taken measures we never expected in our lifetime and how Christopher navigates speaking his mind while being fair and understanding to all and open to discussions on the hard topics.
Such a great episode on real life and online experiences as podcasters in Canada.
Hopefully the first of many collaborations!

  • Episode 162 Being Real with Port Alberni Mamas
This next Being Real with episode, I jump in with my mom, her bestie and a childhood friend of mine to talk about being a mama in Port Alberni currently and all the chaos they are witnessing as parents.
From the school system to the media to the medical industry to the entertainment business, there seems to be an influx of need to have pure acceptance of everything sexualized, specifically to young kids.
At this point in time, parents are not allowed to ask questions or have valid concerns without being labelled with some extreme title.
No one wants to be labelled a bigot, homophobe or transphobe for simply asking questions so it seems many parents sit in silence, afraid to speak up.
If we want progression and inclusion and equity, we have to ensure all voices come to the table and we work together to make everyone feel good.
Everyone deserves love and safety there is no doubt about that.
But we don’t do it by fighting and hate. We do it by coming to the table like adults and seeing all sides and having compassion for those we disagree with and equally evaluating we may not be right either and that’s ok!
We can coexist but we have to be open to it. But the hard talks have to happen.
    That’s my hope for 2024.
Loved having this chat with those that feel like home!

  • Episode 161 Keeping up with šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦ Part IV
In our 4th episode of Keeping up with Canada, we chat about Universal Basic Income and the homeless problem here in Canada.
While we have zero idea of what the actual solutions are, we truly believe there has to be better out there.
Throwing money at anything doesn’t actually solve any problems.
In fact, it truly seems to just create more problems.
It’s not always the persons fault of why they are on the streets but without giving them basic survival skills or how to balance said money, are we even sure this will help?
You don’t just give addicts money and walk away without any support of how to get clean and use that money for living.
And of course that is not all. Not even close. But without addressing why they ended up there and the root cause, UBI is only going to further this issue.
Teach a man to fish right?!
Stop throwing fish at things and teach/support those in HOW TO FISH.
    Ya get what I’m saying?!
What do y’all think this could lead to?! This will not remove our tent cities. Because no matter how much money you throw, it’s not even close to enough to support people in this economy and with this inflation. Dummies. I’m looking at you CF. Be better girl. Do better for this country.
Even middle class people are one bad mistake, one crisis away from losing it all.
Is this what Canada wants for itself?!
PS my real camera didn’t record so sorry for the shit version. You guys can see now why I use my phone over my laptop šŸ˜‚šŸ«

  • Episode 160 Being Real about Parenting
In the next episode of being real, Hails and Dusty join me to chat all about being a parent!
I love the contrast between being a mom and dad and I love that they both see the struggles and wins of both sides.
While moms get scrutinized about certain things that dads don’t, Dads usually don’t have the same connection or time with their kids and scrutinized over that unlike most moms.
A lot of silly scrutinizing we see here!
No one gave anyone the handbook to being a parent.
Heck each kid is even different!
Can’t be crazy hard on yourself but at the same time, you have to be evolving and growing and healing as adult to lead by example.
It’s not showing your kids you are perfect. It’s showing them you are real so they are safe to be real too.
Parenting is almost like healing with your littlest favourite human. Enjoying. Healing. Growing. Evolving.
Drop the parental guilt and shame and evaluate where you can elevate yourself so it elevates your family instead 🩷
Parents are their kids first and most important relationship šŸ«¶šŸ» you guys know what’s best for them!
Tune into this awesome real talk about all things parenting!
