We talk with Pamela Tatge, Executive and Artistic Director at Jacob’s Pillow, the internationally-renowned dance festival in beautiful Becket, Massachusetts. We talked about the history of the Pillow; the innovative dance forms forged there for nearly 100 years; how dance is taught in schools in the Berkshires and is a tool for teaching other subjects; how dancers have run for office; and the power of awe, curiosity, and wonder.
We talked with Susan Wissler, Executive Director at the Mount, Edith Wharton Cultural Center in Lenox. We covered a lot including the history of the Mount, who Edith Wharton was, whether or not Edith is still haunting the Mount, and how Susan helped transform the Mount, to “a Central Park of the Berkshires.” The grounds are open and include some really fascinating sculptures. We took a little special segue to engage with a sculpture which came alive before our very eyes.
Senator Paul Mark has a fascinating background as a electrician for utility company; he’s got a PhD and a JD in policy. He goes up and down all over Berkshire County and he’s got some really interesting legislation he’s working on, including for the Green Bank, lowering the price of electricity, and he cares about transportation. We talked about healthcare and the federal and state dynamic and we wrapped up with learning about some of his special talents.
