Coaching executives is a generic topic.
It depends on the person.
Some people are babysat.
What I mean is,
Some people are groomed to be an executive.
You need to understand people belong to certain circles.
You have to find out their likes, dislikes, interests, and coach them.
You want to be parallel with them.
Not out of compliance.
You're not going to adopt their political beliefs, etc.
But so there is less friction in the interaction.
You know how to mesh with them well.
The goal is to identify the problem(s) of the executive.
Then help them play the game better.
The game of life and business.
Helping them to get through their challenges.
The coach them, you might need to be a stern but loving parent.
Like tough love.
But you have to build trust for it to work.
To build trust, you have to understand them.
Find a way to interact with them.
A way they enjoy.
What it means is,
You have to learn about who they are & adapt yourself to the situation.
Others will have an instant connection.
But sometimes you'll have to adjust to communicate.
With different people of different backgrounds.
Where you be careful.
I am careful to use my words.
To deliver my message effectively.
How to coach an executive?
It's all about identifying the problem they are having.
Helping them play the game better.
Identifying their personality traits and character.
So interaction is enjoyable for both parties.
And frictionless.
Help them consistently.
Depending on what you negotiated.
In terms of how often you talk.
I am a huge fan of daily and weekly disciplines.
My philosophy is:
Everything we want in life, comes from our 24-hour routine.
If I don't give something daily attention in my life, it doesn't progress.
It's important to focus on it daily, if you want to see results.
It just depends on the time they are available.
On what the problem is.
Executive coaching itself is a broad term.
It could be anything from helping someone overcome self-esteem issues.
Be a better communicator.
Or develop leadership skills to help them with different aspects of business.
There could be 101 things.
You need to start with a specific problem you're having.
It's only half the battle.
Once you have the problem, proceed to the people part.
Making sure you share the same manners.
So you don't offend any boundaries or rules they have and vice-versa.
Build rapport & trust.
Over time, set up ways on how you can measure the results.
For them to see their progress.
One thing I've learned over the years, is working with any client has 2 parts:
1. Doing what they paid you to do.
2. Helping them to see it, appreciate it, and understand the value.
You might have experiencing something with a client.
Where you killed yourself working.
And they didn't notice the things you were doing for them.
The unseen things.
So you need to:
1. Help them with the problem.
2. Help them see what you do for them.
Those are both important.
It can be frustrating.
You can be good at what you do.
But you might not be good at communicating.
To inform and help people see what you have done.
To be an effective executive
