In 2008, the now defunct Lionhead Studios released what many saw as the culmination of founder Peter Molyneux's vision. Molyneux had hyped the original Fable as a game that would change the very fabric of the industry, which left fans very underwhelmed when it released as a solid, but rather run-of-the-mill RPG. With Fable 2, things were destined to be different. Molyneux apologized for his salesmanship of Fable and swore that things would be different. Fable 2 managed to deliver on what Lionhead had seemed to promise with the original - it was actually a different kind of RPG. Also, there was a dog and it was very endearing. 

It's time to ask: Is Fable 2 one of the best games period?

In 2009 casual gaming was gaining steam. Flash games were all the rage, mobile was taking off, and Zynga was the new hotness with Farmville dominating Facebook. Then, as the year was drawing to a close, a small development team in Finland with 51 games games under its belt released what might possibly be their final game: Angry Birds. We all know what happened after that. 

Angry Birds has been downloaded and played over one billion times - ONE BILLION! With numbers like that we have to ask the question seriously: Is Angry Birds one of the best games period?

This week our topic was a bit tricky - Mass Effect 3 released to critical praise in 2012, but also made a name for itself by being at the epicenter of one of the biggest fan backlashes in gaming history. In order to properly talk about the conclusion of the Mass Effect trilogy, we made the decision to split it into two parts. In part one, we discuss everything but the DLCs and the ending. Next week we will return with another full episode dedicated to discussing the ending of Mass Effect 3 and the complete hurricane of outrage that it created.

Naughty Dog has always been a company that took risks, and there's certainly an argument to be made that Crash Bandicoot was one of the biggest risks that the company ever took. The project set out to overcome the main problems that plagued early 3D game design, create what they hoped might become an unofficial PlayStation mascot, and took a chance on Sony's new platform, the PlayStation 1.

The remastered Crash Bandicoot trilogy has become the best selling game of the year so far, so that begs the question: Is Crash Bandicoot one of the best games period?

Oblivion released in 2006 bringing a massive open-world geared toward a mainstream audience to PC and console gamers alike. Players were able to explore Cyrodiil, a fantasy land full of kings and gods while experiencing a myriad of stories ranging from becoming the greatest thief in the land to stopping a full-blown demonic invasion.

Does Oblivion stand on its own as one of the best games period or is it overshadowed by the likes of Morrowind and Skyrim?

Long ago in a time now forgotten by modernity, there existed a game. That game pitted mortals against unspeakable horrors from beyond the stars. At the time, many laughed at its premise and comical execution, but little did those who scoffed know that the developers of Earth Defense Force had read the signs and knew of the coming apocalypse. They knew that they would have a single chance and that just one game would be their warning to the world of the impending disaster.
