Who is Sam? That's the question at the heart of A Normal Lost Phone a game for PC and mobile devices. Developed by Accidental Queens, A Normal Lost Phone puts players in possession of a phone that they have found on the ground. The game tasks players with using their cyber sleuthing skills to discover who the owner of the phone is and how to get them back their property. The entire thing becomes a literal character study, for better and worse.

Bending the rules for the podcast a bit, this week we tackle A44's action-RPG Ashen. Released late last year, the Dark Souls-lite game takes players on a perilous journey through a world filled with monsters. With a disarming art style and tight controls, this indie came out of the shadows and surprised quite a few people. Could it be one of the best games period? 

To help us tackle that question, we brought on wonderful Noe Monsivais AKA Trobadour_XP on Twitter. The English teacher/streamer nominated Ashen to throw a bit more of a spotlight on what might be one of the most underappreciated indies from the past year.

Remember how a few years ago a pop culture critic decided to do a series of videos about tropes in video games as viewed through a feminist lens? Well, that conversation got really toxic for a long time, and five years later things seem to have cooled off. So, we're taking another look at the Tropes vs. Women in Video Games series!
 
Each episode of this series will zero in on one episode from the TvWiVG videos and try to break down the trope and talk a bit more in-depth about the specific points Ms. Sarkeesian is making and whether we agree or disagree. The videos were always intended to be a starting point for a larger discussion - hopefully you learn some things or find the conversations interesting!
 
This first episode was made available via traditional channels and the plan was for it to be kept a Patreon thing after that, but we've been having some scheduling difficulties of late and still want to put out an episode for you guys (it IS Monday, after all). So, we are putting this episode out for everyone!

Overcooked! A game about cooking and such. Is it a best game period? Is it not? We sort of get to the bottom of it by the end of this episode. 

It's an indie game about culinary delights and skills that you can shove in your friends' faces. I hear it's delightful and it even got a sequel, so that must be a good sign!
