David was out of the word of God at this time. It is also interesting that this happens on the third day. David had begun to doubt the word of God because of his struggles with Saul. 1 Samual 30 continues, "Now it happened, when David and his men came to Ziklag, on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the South and Ziklag, attacked Ziklag and burned it with fire, and had taken captive the women and those who were there, from small to great; they did not kill anyone, but carried them away and went their way. So David and his men came to the city, and there it was, burned with fire; and their wives, their sons, and their daughters had been taken captive. Then David and the people who were with him lifted up their voices and wept, until they had no more power to weep.

After a great loss it is a principle that you have to get the loss out of your system. They wept until they had no more power to weep. Pastor Brad continues reading from 1 Samuel 30. The people he was with then had to deal with betrayal. Betrayal always catches you by surprise. It continues, "But David strengthened himself." Proverbs 18:16 says, "A man’s gift makes room for him, And brings him before great men." The gift that God has placed upon the inside of you has been given by God. God wants you to use that gift. It doesn't matter what the gift is, but it matters that you use that gift.

Galatians 6:6-10 says, "Let him who is taught the word share in all good things with him who teaches. Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. 9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith."

One of the ways that we do not lose heart is to pray.  Luke 18:1 says, "Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart ..." You need to pray and call in faith to God and persist in that prayer. Add your faith to your sowing and expect to reap!
