Pastor Brad Morgan of New Life Beginnings Church in Pattison, TX continues speaking about the great recovery David experienced in his life. David had been seeking the promise that God had for him for 13 years from the age of 17. In 1 Samuel 30 it says, "Now it happened, when David and his men came to Ziklag, on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the South and Ziklag, attacked Ziklag and burned it with fire". Ziklag means winding road. Sometimes God takes us on a winding road. The scripture continues saying, "but God was with him."
Ultimately David went to Abiathar the priest, a spiritual leader for guidance. David was careful to ask God for guidance. God answered, “Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.” It is interesting that David did not go after the enemy right way. He first encouraged himself and got back to the things God had spoken to him. This is very important for us. The word of God is the place to get your encouragement.
As you pursue, consider what things in your life has been stolen by the enemy. Identify your losses. Seek spiritual guidance. Have hope, which is the joyful expectation of good. We can have joyful expectation of good because God is the God of hope. In Romans 15:12-13 it says, "And again, Isaiah says: “There shall be a root of Jesse; And He who shall rise to reign over the Gentiles, In Him the Gentiles shall hope.” Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Hope is the anchor of our soul.
