Genesis 26:1-3 says, "There was a famine in the land, besides the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went to Abimelech king of the Philistines, in Gerar. Then the Lord appeared to him and said: “Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land of which I shall tell you.  Dwell in this land, and I will be with you and bless you; for to you and your descendants I give all these lands, and I will perform the oath which I swore to Abraham your father." Here we see the relationship between the father and the son, but more importantly we see that God is going to lead the son in a different way. While God let Abraham the father go to Egypt during a famine (Genesis 12:10), God told his son Isaac to not go to egypt, but stay in the land of the famine. This is a picture of a generational blessing.

Isaac was one that honored his father Abraham, went to the alter and was willing to be slain (Genesis 22). Isaac had great trust in his father. It is equally important that father's are diligent to not pass on generational sin. Be willing to be vulnerable to your sons and daughters and let them know where you have messed up or made a mistake.

The generational blessing was passed down from Abraham to Isaac, but Isaac lived his own life and received his own blessing from God.

Isaac was told by God to dwell in Gerar, which means a place of temporary dwelling. The land that calls us to dwell in is a progressive land. Go to the place of your assignement and a generational blessing will be released to you.

Every part of the body is important, and your part is needed.  In 1 Corinthians 12:27-30 it says, "Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually. And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles? Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret?" Though not mentioned in this verse, Pastor Brad speaks about the importance of the Gift of Helps. The blessing of the Lord is released in the gift of the Lord you are called to function in.
