The Freedom of Expression Institute (FXI), in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry (dti), Google South Africa, the Wits University and American University Washington College of Law, hosted a roundtable discussion on the second version of the Copyright Act Amendment Bill, ahead of its scheduled August Parliamentary hearings.
The discussion was aimed to share information about the benefits of expanding fair use rights, which includes rights to make technological and transformative use of existing works in ways that promote creativity while protecting the rights of authors.
Sean Flynn, Associate Director and Lecturer in Residence at American University Washington College of Law (AUWCL), spoke to Relebogile Mabotja about the issue of copyright & related rights.
