The Bethel - Old Trafford Christadelphian Church

Distinct parallels between the journey of the Israelites and Nelson Mandella (and South Africa's) 'Long Walk to Freedom' can be made, a springboard that David used to encourage us to embrace our freedom in Christ.

Colin looks at the story of Gideon and how we display God's strength through weakness.

Prioritising warning signs and sirens is fundamental in health and safety, but maybe it's even more important in our spiritual lives. Martyn encourages us to learn to listen to the one who is like no-one else above all other sounds.

Samson needed to rely on God's strength, not his own, but he had to lose his sight to get his inspiration. Charles encouraged us to be led by God's spirit (Romans 8) and be inspired by Jesus with our minds set on what the Spirit desires.

Tony explores sacrifice.

Pete explores how "the softest pillow is a clear conscience". God has planted the concept of conscience in our hearts as we read in Romans. Conscience is our starting pint from which faith can grow.

Colin uses the story of Rahab to inspire his words of encouragement.

When God seems to withdraw, you can always find people have actually withdrawn and God is there trying to reconnect. God is there reaching out to humans, hoping they will react and respond with the same energy. Jesus came as God's demonstration of this. Jesus came as the mercy seat, the Holy of Holies as God chooses to dwell with us. Jesus showed us first, his total dependence on God and then God's sovereign power. Then he repeats God's promise "I will be with you" in John 14.

Joe explores what it means to be in God's Presence. Part one is a discussion about how God is a seeking God. He is already seeking us before we seek him.

Why are trees so tall? Why do people surge forward to push in front of others at the baggage reclaim, overstepping into the unsafe zone? What is it that drives land grabs like we see in the Ukraine? Steve encourages us to turn around and face true other way, to emulate Jesus in our care and concern for others. We have no need to compete for God's attention, lets step back and be peacemakers, and live in devotion to God, Devotion to Teaching, Devotion to Fellowship.
