The 1997 masterpiece film from Studio Ghibli in which we follow a simple but beautifully told tale of Man Vs Nature. Sprinkle a ton of Japanese folk lore, forest deities and outstanding visuals and score. We follow Ashitaka trying to rid a demons curse and battle between humanity’s greed for resources and natures resilience to fight back. Shaq has finally caught up with Mashle and the boys have a spoiler filled chat on how great Mashle is and wish it gets an anime adaption. Also, Shaq has been rewatching some JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, which lead on to a discussion about how disappointed the boys are about Netflix with how they are handling Stone Ocean. Jamie still be on his reading grind with Tower of God, very close to catching up and again he sings it’s praises. Shaq has no One Piece update this month. We pray to the anime gods that next month he will have watched more.

They talk about some of manga they have been reading, Shaq hasn’t had the chance to read much this month, but Jamie has started Tower of God and without giving too much away as there is an anime of this, which the boys may cover in a future episode, is absolutely loving it and compares aspects of it to Hunter X Hunter. Shaq has no One Piece update this month. But we forgive him as it’s been a shorter month as we are now moving The Anime Critique to the second to last Friday of each month.

Welcome to The Anime Critique, the monthly Anime & Manga podcast by the boys at Betwixt Ideas. On this episode the boys talk about and review Megalo Box. The Spring 2018 hit in which we are thrown into the world of Megalo Boxing. An advanced form of boxing in which fighters enhance their skills with the use of gear strapped to their arms and across the back. We follow Joe our underdog protagonist as he aspires to become a Megalo Box champion. Funnily enough Shaq had also been watching Hajime no Ippo so it’s a really boxing, sport anime filled ep. They talk about some of manga they have been reading, Shaq is still read Mashle and is slowly catching up. Jamie has finished Soul Eater and now is reading Enen no Shouboutai, Fire Force. Is it better than Soul Eater? Shaq has no One Piece update this month. Which makes us sad but we are hopeful he’ll have watched some in time for next episode.
