This Sunday continued our series in evangelism on "Reaching the Lost." This lecture is the 5th lesson of the series, and is part 3 of the lecture "How Should We Evangelize?"

After describing how he was running life's race, Paul next tells us not only to follow his example, but that we must do so because "our citizenship is in heaven." Heavenly citizens have duties to the heavenly King. In verses 17-21, Paul highlights three duties of a heavenly citizen.

All of us are running life's race. But not everyone will win the prize. Paul's point in this text is that if we (like him) are gonna follow Christ, then we must approach life like a runner approaches a race. In these verses, Paul shows us how to run life's race.

In this text, Paul looks back on all that he valued before coming to Christ, only to conclude, "It's now worth nothing to me." Paul wants us to live for what ultimately matters, and he claims what ultimately counts in life is knowing Jesus Christ.
