You might be familiar with Jesus' first miracle. It's a wedding at Cana and the party is not over, but the wine is gone. Mary comes to Jesus thinking He can do something about this. Although He tells her His time is not yet come, He does step in and perform a miracle. But the miracle is dependent on the obedience of the servants. This might be a fresh look at a familiar story for you.  Water --> wine.  God's word --> Obedience.

John the Baptist has been paving the way for Jesus. Now, Jesus is here and is beginning His public ministry. John will consistently point to Jesus as the Messiah and humbly recognize that His role is to prepare the way. Jesus will even attract John's disciples who will go and gather others. Because when you meet Jesus and you realize who He truly is, it's hard to contain your excitement.

This is the first episode in the series on the gospel of John where we will study together verse by verse, chapter by chapter through this entire narrative. John wrote this gospel as a narrative to record his eye witness accounts of his life with Jesus. His book has a strong theme that establishes Jesus is God.  In this episode we will cover the first 14 verses of the gospel of John. We'll talk a bit about the author and the date when this was written. Then we'll examine the figurative language that John uses to introduce us to Jesus - the Son of God, the Messiah.
