Are there false teachers in the church? You bet. Were there false prophets among the Old Testament Israelites? Of course. Peter writes his last letter to exhort believers to remain steadfast in following the teachings of the prophets and apostles. This is the only safeguard that the church will have against the false teachers that Peter warns will be coming into the church.
