2nd John
John writes this letter in order to encourage “the chosen lady and her children” to encourage them to endure in the teaching of Christ. These words are just as relevant for us today. 

 3rd John
John writes this letter in order to both commend a fellow believer named Gaius and to warn him about someone name Diotrephes who rejects the words and teaching of the apostles. Commendation and warning: these are strong and necessary words for all believers.
