That's right, folks, you read the caption right - three different books of the Bible this week. In the dark times of Judges, hope shines forth in a Moabite women named Ruth who is upheld as the textbook example of faith when Israel's faith and obedience is absent. Although Israel knows that a king will one day descend the line of Judah as their messiah, the book of 1 Samuel introduces readers to the last judge and first prophet, Samuel. What you won't read about in 1 Samuel, however, is how to edit a podcast, as it seems there are some slight audio challenges in this recording - sorry about that! After a miraculous crossing of the River Jordan in the beginning of Joshua, the book's second half focuses in on their attempt to drive out the Canaanites. Although peace is in Israel for a time, the book of Judges exposes Israel's shortcomings of obedience and its consequences as evil rises throughout the nation and God is slowly forgotten about.
