Enough already! Ever feel like that? Life can keep throwing us challenges and sometimes we just don't feel like we can take any more. What then? When we feel we have had enough in this life, God is our portion.

Bible Reading: 1 Kings 16-22

Verse of the day: 1 Kings 19:4, "Then he went on alone into the wilderness, traveling all day. He sat down under a solitary broom tree and prayed that he might die. "I have had enough, LORD," he said. "Take my life, for I am no better than my ancestors who have already died.""

Word of the day: Enough. It is the Hebrew word: רַב (rab).

Whenever my kids wanted to help someone do what was right when they were little, they would demonstrate authority and say, "my momma said so". It worked for a little while until the other person did not consider me an authority. But we who are in Christ are to live holy lives because of the authority of our good and great God.

Verse of the day: Leviticus 11:45, "I am the LORD, who brought you up out of Egypt to be your God; therefore be holy, because I am holy."

Word of the day: Holy. It is the Hebrew word: קָדוֹשׁ (kaw-doshe').

Walking out our faith requires applying God's word daily to our lives. How we walk our faith out ultimately demonstrates what we say we believe.

Bible Reading: Eph. 4-6

Verse of the day: Ephesians 4:17, "Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds."

Word of the day: Walk. It is the Greek word: περιπατέω (per-ee-pat-eh'-o).

Being a Christian is impossible in our flesh. We could never be good enough. But in Christ, what is impossible becomes possible with God.

Bible Reading: Luke 18-20

Verse of the day: Luke 18:27, "Jesus replied, "What is impossible with man is possible with God.""

Word of the day: Possible. It is the Greek word: δυνατός (doo-nat-os').

The soundness of our doctrine depends on how acquainted we are with God's word and living it out.

Bible Reading: Proverbs 4-5

Verse of the day: Proverbs 4:2, "For I give you good doctrine: Do not forsake my law."

Word of the day: Doctrine. It is the Hebrew word: לֶקַח (leh'-kakh).

Our souls will encounter suffering in this life, but how will we encounter that suffering? The suffering of our souls was also experienced by our Messiah, who ultimately saved our souls.

Bible Reading: Psalms 68-70

Verse of the day: Psalm 69:1, "Save me, O God; For the waters are come in unto my soul."

Word of the day: Soul. It is the Hebrew word: נֶפֶשׁ (neh'-fesh).

Sometimes mourning and lamenting what could have been keeps us wrapped up in the past and sometimes it wakes us up to realize the mistakes we have made.

Bible Reading: Ezekiel 19-24

Verse of the day: Ezekiel 19:14, "And fire has gone out from the stem of its shoots, has consumed its fruit, so that there remains in it no strong stem, no scepter for ruling. This is a lamentation and has become a lamentation."

Word of the day: Lamentation. It is the Hebrew word: קִינָה (kee-naw').

Being unequally yoked with unbelievers turns our hearts away. God's command to Solomon to not associate with foreign women was not because of their race, but because of their faith.

Bible Reading: 1 Kings 11-15

Verse of the day: 1 Kings 11:1–3, "Now King Solomon loved many foreign women . . . from the nations of which the Lord had said to the sons of Israel, "You shall not associate with them, nor shall they associate with you; they will certainly turn your heart away to follow their gods." . . . And his wives turned his heart away."

Word of the day: Foreign. It is the Hebrew word: נָכְרִי (nok-ree').

Guilt is hard to overcome. If it isn't guilt trips from others, our own hearts can condemn us, and we also have an accuser who lives to accuse us. But we can ditch guilt and don grace in Christ.

Bible Reading: Lev. 5-8

Verse of the day: Leviticus 5:5, "When you become aware of your guilt in any of these ways, you must confess your sin."

Word of the day: Guilt. It is the Hebrew word: אָשַׁם (aw-sham').

I knew God had laid it on my heart to adopt my youngest son, but he is not the only adopted one in our family. When I consider that we have all been adopted into God's Kingdom, I am overwhelmed by God's mercy and kindness.

Verse of the day: Ephesians 1:5, "God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure."
