When we try to help others in their struggles, we help them best by pointing them to Jesus, not by judging them.

Bible Reading: Job 33-34

It is hard to be still in a busy world. We tend to think that everything depends on us, but it depends on God. When we cease from seizing control we never had, we find the peace we were missing all along.

We all have holes in our souls, places of longing for God to satisfy. We can't get satisfaction from that which was never intended to satisfy. The temporary cannot satisfy the needs of the eternal.

When we suffer distress in our lives because of enemies, our breakthrough will not come from our enemies, but from God who is able to change hearts.

Bible Reading: 1 Sam 26-31

Verse of the day: 1 Samuel 26:24, "Therefore behold, just as your life was highly valued in my sight this day, so may my life be highly valued in the sight of the Lord, and may He rescue me from all distress."

Word of the day: Distress. It is the Hebrew word: צָרָה (tsaw-raw').

The hard places in this life can evoke a fight or flight response within us. But for those who are in Christ, it can be a place of faith, instead. Our God fights for us.

Bible Reading: Exodus 13-16

Verse of the day: Exodus 14:14, "The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still."

Word of the day: Fight. It is the Hebrew word: לָחַם (law-kham').

Suffering has a purpose we can miss if we just focus on our pain. Let God use suffering in your life and don't miss the beauty found mingled with the pain.

Bible Reading: 2 Cor. 1-2

Verse of the day: 2 Corinthians 1:5, "For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ."

Word of the day: Comfort. It is the Greek word: παράκλησις (par-ak'-lay-sis).

Our faith in God is seen in our lives by the fruit we bear. Faith is not an end to itself. It is God who our faith is in, not faith or religion.

Bible Reading: Mark 11-12

Word of the day: Faith. It is the Greek word: πίστις (pis'-tis).

When we are befuddled by life's complexities and don't understand why things are as they are, Scripture tells us to get wisdom and understanding and God gives us His Holy Spirit to help us to understand. Bible Reading: Job 31-32

This word means: wind, breath, mind, Spirit, disposition

If anyone knew what it was to need protection, it was David. And He knew where to go. All the security in this world cannot trump the hand of our God. There is no greater protection found than the eternal security we have in Christ.

Sometimes our listening skills are not so great. We hear what we want to hear and then get mad at God when we don't think He hears us. But if we listen well, we might hear a message that has different intentions than we first thought. And then we might also recognize that we have a God who hears us, too.
