In this episode, we will seek to answer a few questions surrounding the mystery of Jonah's deliverance from the tempestuous sea. Was Jonah really swallowed and preserved in a fish for three days and three nights? Why does God use a sea creature to extend mercy to Jonah? In what ways is Jesus exalted in this portion of the narrative? 

In this episode, Jonah seems to have chosen death over life. His cynicism has led him into dark isolation, and Jonah doesn’t feel like he can get out of it. Yet, even in the midst of Jonah's disobedience and cynicism, the sailors are making an incredible faith discovery. 

In this episode, we will continue to explore Jonah's resistance to God's calling, but will also focus in on the remarkable way that God reveals himself to non-Israelites during the greatest storm these seasoned Phoenician sailors had ever seen.

It seems ridiculous that God would want Jonah to go into a strong enemy territory and be a vessel by which God extends mercy upon His chosen people's greatest enemy. Yet, that is exactly what the Sovereign God is asking Jonah to do.

We often times joke about Jonah and remember him as an incapable clown. But, I actually think there is something much deeper in this story.
