António Ferreira is a prolific multi-award-winning mental health activist, campaigner, public speaker, disruptor, and expert by experience. António fervently campaigns for anti-racism within the mental health sector, intending to shift the way the UK views and addresses mental ill-health within racialized communities. As a teenager, António went through a traumatic experience of mental ill-health. He was diagnosed with ‘Undifferentiated Schizophrenia’ and ‘Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder’ and experienced auditory hallucinations. This conversation was one of the most profound and open conversations I've ever had. For someone who has lived with Mental Health problems for over 10 years, I found this chat really comforting and was just in awe of António and all the amazing work he does. Today's guest is the wonderful Alex Holmes. Alex was suggested by our mutual friend Will Poulter (episode 1). Alex Holmes really is a role model who has done incredible, transformative work battling bullying in the UK. Alex experienced bullying at school until one day in sixth form he decided he'd had enough and decided to find an effective way to combat the issue for himself and others. He created the 'Anti-Bullying Ambassadors: trained up pupils who could combat bullying at playground level, particularly in supporting bullied children to speak out. Now deputy CEO of the Diana Award, a legacy charity to Princess Diana which believes young people can change the world.
