As planting goes full throttle this week across Iowa, we talk with Iowa State University Extension Field Agronomist Leah TenNapel in the Northwest corner of the state about their progress and the progress of the early-planted cop as it nears emergence. She also discusses the potential diseases including seedling rot that could impact it. We talk markets with Al Kluis today with corn and soybeans weaker and he says the recent news from the war in Ukraine is pushing wheat upward. We also take a look at weather in South America's growing regions and here in the Midwest. And, our new member of The Big Show, David Geiger, tells us what planting activity he has seen driving though Eastern Iowa in the past couple of days.

It's planting day at the DMACC Corn Cam plot in Adel, IA! Bob is joined at the top of the hour by Doug Pooch from Wyffels Hybrids, providers of this year's Corn Cam seeds, about the traits of the seeds being used and the Wyffels GDU calculator tool. DMACC Agri Business Instructor Travis Lautner tells us more about the calf born on the DMACC farm yesterday, the planting progress at the corn cam site, and the success of the Mark Pearson FFA Leadership Scholarship. We finish up the show with Don Roose from U.S. Commodities looking at improving corn and soybean numbers and the oversold wheat crop causing big gains there.

Chair of the Iowa Corn Growers Association, Lance Lillibridge, joins us at the top of the hour with a look at how much corn and soybean planting he has seen so far and gives his thoughts on last week's announcement by the EPA of an emergency waiver allowing for summertime E-15 sales nation-wide and talks about its importance for the Iowa corn industry. DMACC Agri Business Instructor Travis Lautner joins us on the phone today with a preview of tomorrow's Corn Cam planting day and what the soil temps and moisture look like. We close up shop for the day with Midwest Market Solutions' Brian Hoops talking about what's bringing down the livestock trade.

Angie Rieck-Hinz from Iowa State University Extension discusses with us the newest crop progress report numbers and what the outlook looks like for planting temperature-wise in the next 7 to 10 days. With Brian Hoops along from Midwest Market Solutions, he names improving weather as a cause for the down-trending markets today. We're also introducing our new Farm Director! We start off this hour with the owners of the year-old restaurant, Matt and Marianne Pacha, talking about the origin of the name "Flight" and what makes their burgers so tasty. They also have a fundraiser ongoing with $1 of each Foundation Burger going to the Ballard Education Foundation. Iowa Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Grant Menke and Iowa Beef Industry Council Chair Dan Hanrahan also join us at the restaurant to talk about the importance of Iowa's beef industry and quality beef on the plate. IBIC Director of Communications and Marketing Kylie Peterson breaks down the process of the contest over the past few months going from nearly 6,500 votes representing more than 500 restaurants all the way down to one champion.
