East Central Iowa agronomist from Iowa State Extension Rebecca Vittetoe joins us to start the hour and touches on dodging the winter weather yesterday, pest and disease management in 2023, and their upcoming meetings discussing carbon markets. Gentry Sorenson from ISU Extension in Northwest Iowa joins us later in the hour with an update on the snow fall in that area and how much it may help with drought concerns, he also fills us in on extension meetings in that area of the state including the topic of soybean gall midge. Our market analyst Don Roose from U.S. Commodities dives into the newest USDA projections for crop prices and crop estimates to wrap up the show with us.

Representative Randy Feenstra from Iowa's 4th Congressional District joins us in studio in the first half hour of the show discussing the committees he is on this session, the upcoming farm bill and their listening sessions, the process of defining Waters of the U.S., and carbon pipelines. Don Roose breaks down today's markets and gives us an update on South American harvest progress.

Iowa Biodiesel Board Executive Director Grant Kimberly updates us on their day at the state capitol last week and the things they spoke with lawmakers about on behalf of Iowa's biodiesel industry including B-30 incentives. Retired Farm Management Specialist with ISU Extension, Steve Johnson, updates us on his projected prices for corn and soybeans in 2023 and talks about the benefits of purchasing Revenue Protection crop insurance. Al Kluis wraps up with us with an update on markets and a look at his charts for corn and soybeans and says that the losses in the wheat market today are putting a wet blanket on the rest of the markets.

Iowa State Extension Field Agricultural Engineer Kapil Arora tells us about the trainings he is doing in the state covering manure application, the process of applying in standing corn, and what he is telling nitrogen buyers and sellers amid market swings. Al Kluis from Kluis commodities is our market analyst, but we start with a look at weather up in the Twin Cities where he is based out of before looking at opportunities to market grains in this market. We also keep you up to date on the latest ag news with the three big things you need to know and concentrate on how this winter weather is affecting the state of Iowa.

Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird unravels a lawsuit she is part of along with 24 other states to create a definition for Waters of the United States as well as another lawsuit against California's Prop 12 ruling. We also spotlight a new $1 million gift from Iowa Farm Bureau Federation to Iowa FFA and the impact it will make on ag education. Jamey Kohake closes up shop with us discussing markets coming out of the long President's Day weekend diving into hog trade and some outside markets before transitioning into his targets for grains.

A new plant-based COVID vaccine out of Canada that has been nixed by the World Health Organization due to the plant being used. Bob Quinn talks with Jamey Kohake as soybeans are off and running and he says it's a good opportunity for new crop beans topping $14 today. Tim Meyer with Steffes Group has his weekly land and equipment value update, runs down their upcoming calendar and talks about their impressive number of online bidders.

Bob Quinn talks with Cory Van Gilst and Joyce Hoppes from the Iowa Pork Producers Association call in to discuss the upcoming meetings they are holding talking about prevention of ASF and other foreign animal diseases and other upcoming programs they are putting on including Bacon Buddies and other events to engage with consumers. Hope Brecht from CSIF tells us more about their Green Farmstead Partner Program to build as new windbreak on your land. Sac City Hog Slat's Jeff Klocke tells us about their business and the equipment they have in stock to help producers get the job done. We check back in with Brian Waddingham to close the show talking about who should be getting in contact with CSIF and the optimism they have in getting new producers started that some other groups don't offer up.

It's a Farming for the Future Friday with the Coalition to Support Iowa's Farmers. Today we are focused on the pork industry! Bob Quinn is joined CSIF's Brian Waddingham discussing the great opportunities in the state of Iowa for new hog farmers and how the Coalition can help with the understanding of all of the rules and regulations and establishing neighbor relationships. Humboldt County pork producer and past president of the Iowa Pork Producers Association, Kevin Rasmussen, tells us what he tells young people who are curious about getting into hog farming including the joys of living in rural Iowa. Ben Nuelle from the IPPA gives his perspective of moving from Iowa to a big city then deciding to move back to Iowa to get into the pork industry. He also gives an update on his current trip to Washington D.C. to meet with the new federal legislators. Kody Havens from CSIF outlines the process of getting in touch with the Coalition for their confidential assistance, having an on-farm visit, and getting farmers in touch with the right people to get plans put into action.

Bob Quinn speaks with researchers from the ISA to discuss their latest research to improve returns for farmers! We start off with Roger Wolf, Co-Chair of the ISA Research Center for Farming Innovation, talking about their Plan, Do, Check, Act technique for engaging farmers to put research into practice. ISA President-Elect Suzanne Shirbroun talks about the role of the Soybean Checkoff in research and how producers can get involved in their research. ISA RCFI Co-Chair Joe McClure talks about some of the benefits of participating in their trials an implementing the research on your land. Also, ISA Field Services Program Manager Brandon Iddings discusses how to identify an oxbow, the pros of an oxbow restoration, and funding options for a restoration.

Monte Shaw from the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association joins the show and presents results of a study they conducted to see the negative impact on ethanol if Iowa does not allow carbon sequestration while other states do. Soy Transportation Coalition Executive Director Mike Steenhoek shares some big news with Lower Mississippi River shipping and tells us how he is feeling about river levels with above average moisture so far for 2023. Al Kluis closes us out with market analysis looking at his targets for corn and beans and the factors keeping those markets from rising.
