It's Iowa Ag Expo Day 1! Bob Quinn talks with the show's Marketing Director, Cindy Feldman, hearing about the seven-floor layout of hundreds of exhibitors, how to get tickets, and what to make sure you see when you stop by! Jeff Longnecker talks with us about the latest in fertilizer prices and supply and people who are talking to him curious about starter fertilizer usage. Scott Sloan from Titan Tire tell us what they have on display including the world's largest ag tire and more of their new technology. Terry Honig with Holganix talks about their liquid-form microbe product to help boost soils and raise yields.

Channel Seeds Technical Agronomist Matthew Nelson tell us what he's looking at in terms of weather coming up in the spring including dryness remaining in Western Iowa on the drought monitor, and traits that they have added to fight off corn rootworm. On the eve of the 2023 Iowa Ag Expo, we talk with one of the exhibitors, Don Van Houweling from Van Wall Equipment about what they will have on display including their new NutriProbe technology as well as the demonstrations they will have at their booth. We wrap up the show with some market insight from Paragon Investments' Jamey Kohake as soybeans remain double-digits stronger near the close.

It's Iowa Ag Expo Eve! Bob Quinn opens the show with the hours, ticket, and and parking info. He also speaks with some of the exhibitors who will be at the Iowa Events Center. Among them is Doug Applegate from Praxidyn who tells us about their chemical mixers that help with precise measurements and record keeping. Also, Tim Meyer and The Steffes Group will be in attendance. Today, we get our weekly land and equipment value update. Out market analyst today in Jamey Kohake from Paragon Investments and he fill us in on what caused soybeans to jump up in the overnight trade and continuing into the day trade.

Bob talks with Tony Konecne from Buzzard Billy's, making our mouths water talking about what they've got on the menu as the Iowa Ag Expo makes its way to town across the street at the Iowa Events Center. Tanner Lawton from the Iowa Cattlemen's Association tells us where they have some informational meetings coming up and how to get signed up to attend. They will be going over what the ICA is up to in the state house and D.C. as well as where the cattle markets could be heading in 2023. Don Roose wraps up the week wit ha look at the markets and says rainfall in South America is helping push the corn and soybeans a little lower to end the afternoon.

Bob Quinn comments on some of the key info learned at the Iowa Pork Congress, earlier this week including the best ways to sequester carbon. State Veterinarian Dr. Jeff Kaisand joins us with an update on the latest confirmed case of highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza in a commercial turkey flock in Buena Vista County. Don Roose is our market analyst of the day as corn and soybeans a fall a little bit after being in the green during overnight trade. USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack's comments on the availability and price of fertilizer in the coming year.

Joyce Hoppes, the Consumer Information Director with the Iowa Pork Producers Association, tells us that IPPA is looking to expand their Bacon Buddies program for youth with intellectual or developmental disabilities to show an animal at the fair with a 4-H student. She also unpacks a study that the Pork Producers did with Hy-Vee showing the popularity of ground pork in the meat case.

Bob Quinn is at the Iowa Pork Congress in Des Moines. Bob is joined to start the show by Vice President of Sustainability at National Pork Board, Ashley McDonald, who talks about producer grants they are working on with USDA, and how they convey the importance of conservation to producers. NPB CEO Bill Even addresses reasons why consumers are concerned about the pork industry. Past President of the National Pork Producers Council and Iowa Select Farms Communications Director Jen Sorensen gives her thoughts on the labor issue in pork production and the rewards of being part of the industry.

Bob is joined by Brian Waddingham and Hope Brecht from CSIF talking about the new year of award winners and how the Coalition can help get producers into the pork industry. The Liljedahls tell us about their operation and the conditions in Page County and Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig extends his congratulations to the couple and talks about the importance of multi-generational operations. U.S. Meat Export Federation's Erin Borror talks about what is taking place in the pork industry globally causing strength in exports. Outgoing President of the Iowa Pork Producers Association, Kevin Rasmussen, fills us in on what happened yesterday at their annual meeting including the election of the new president, Trish Cook. Cook, also a past recipient of the Good Farm Neighbor Award, joins us at the end of the hour and lays out her top priorities as she takes over at the Pork Producers.

Monte Shaw from the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association comes on to tell us about the February 7 Iowa Renewable Fuels Summit and its speakers including the newly-announced Governor Kim Reynolds.
