The Bird Dog Babe

I created this podcast three years ago to find and connect with other women interested in upland hunting and all things bird dogs. I was, and continue to be, eager to learn and be inspired. In the process, I've been listening and understanding what women want. My goals and mission are now focused on that; making opportunities available for like-minded women to connect and get started and involved more easily. In this closing episode, I share my gratitude for everyone who has inspired and supported me on this journey. Continue the journey with me and so many others over at HerUpland! HerUpland.com

Andy and Amanda Doak live and love all things bird dogs, hunting, conservation, and NAVHDA (North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association). For those that have experienced the friendships made through your involvement in NAVHDA, you can relate to this conversation about the personal gain that comes not only from those relationships with other people but also with your dogs. Andy and Amanda's gratitude inspires them to give back to the organization at the local and national levels. Andy shares more about why he is currently running for the vice president position of the NAVHDA International board. Voting ends on Nov 16, get your votes in!

In this episode guests Sam 'the slayer' Snyder, Katie Willis, Stephanie Walton Filicipzak, and Chloe Nostrant join me to discuss our hunt with 4 senior bird dogs in the sea of sage this past September. This episode, and this hunt, is a tribute to my dearly beloved, late Bisto, whom we lost this past spring.

Rachel Willard and her husband, Andrew, rely on wild game meat to fill their freezer and feast on year-round. This year they acquired two bearded baby bird dogs and their active lifestyle has led them to become active volunteers for their local NAVHDA Chapter and avid upland hunters. Rachel shares her story of getting into big game and upland hunting, the love of beards, and the learning and adventures that come with bird dogs. Rachel and Andrew have become very dear friends of my husband and me this past year, and we absolutely love and cherish every moment we spend with them. Both stepped up to the plate as mentors this past weekend at HerUpland Grouse Camp and did an amazing job. Enjoy this episode and hear from an amazing, beautiful person inside and out that Rachel Willard is

In this episode I am joined by 4 awesome ladies throughout the country. For different reasons, each of them traveled to Omaha, NE for Pheasant Fest/Quail Classic March 11-13, an annual convention that is often described as the Super Bowl of Upland Hunting. Whether you're a hunter, landowner, bird dog lover, wild game cooking enthusiast, or wildlife habitat conservationist, there is something for everyone at this event. But what isn't advertised for this incredible weekend, are the lifelong friendships and connections made when you're surrounded by likeminded people that share your passion. We sit down and talk about all of those things, in addition to, the people that inspired us throughout the weekend and all those in the Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever Organizations that worked so hard to host this incredible event, and all things they're doing for the birds, wildlife, and habitat.

Amanda Ponti shares her story of how her German Shorthaired Pointer and German Wirehaired Pointer, along with some welcoming men started her on a journey into upland hunting. She shares some hard lessons learned on that journey, what she's doing now to help other women get started, and how conservation efforts have become an integral part of the journey for her.
