The Hunting Dog Podcast

Stopping off on my way home from the annual South Dakota trip, I hit some spots with a great group of locals, who welcomed me with open fields, open doors and opened beers. For those of you who say it's all about the dogs.... well, for me it's all about the friends!

On my way home from SD I stopped into the Boss headquarters. While my dog Vee ran from office to office, I brought the recorder into Brandon Cerecke's office and went on a deep dive on all things BOSS from their legecy brand to the new Warchief and a couple others you may not have heard about. It's easy to see why this company has taken over the marshes and the prairies  by storm ( no pun intended ;) 

Our annual trip to White Lake Hunting Lodge was a blast! Seeing old friends, making new friends and sharing the field with our dogs and the state bird of South Dakota.

A little recap of last week in Michigan and a episode that normally are only sent to my Patreon Patrons. Uncut, Unfiltered and honest stories of the many dogs I have owned and loved.

As promised, Jordan returns to the show to give us a 360 degree view of hunting birds in Alaska. From the interior to the coast, access is everywhere and so are the birds, but the logistics of hunting, training and just owning bird dogs in Alaska are the real tests of how dedicated one needs to be a wingshooter in The Last Frontier! 

Danielle Prewett joins me and my daughter Jessi to talk cooking, hunting, calories and birds dogs. Something I never thought about when I started hunting. Celebrating a hunt with a recipe that adds to the memories, is worth the effort.  Her new book will give you a guide to make wild game into the meal it deserves.

Amelia operates Bad Habit Gun Dogs. It may sound like she works with rescue dogs, but it is quite the opposite. She trains and campaigns Field trial Springers and Cockers. In a relatively short time, Amelia has put her mark on the Flushing dog trials.

Next year, The Hunting Dog Film festival will premier in Kansas City. While 30,000 plus hunters converge at Pheasant Fest. This event will feature the best short films about hunting with our dogs. 

Matt Frank took a path with his pup that most folks never attempt. He signed his pup up with three different hunting test organizations.  We go over the results and compare his notes on how his pup did.
