The Biscuits and Gravy Show

This week on B&G we had on a group containing some of the most prolific instrumentalist in the state of Virginia. The lineup for Shmazz includes Jamiel Allen(Keys/Vocals), Willis Greenstreet(Guitar/Sax), Stimulator Jones(Bass/Back up Vocals), Chris O'Neal(Drums).

What started as improv jam sessions on a livestream has grown into a few special tracks that aren't the typical sounds you hear from the Appalachian Region. With Jamiel and Willis leading the charge on the writing and compositions they have been "pushing the envelope" on what style of music has been coming from Roanoke, VA. These tracks with hints of Bobby Caldwell and Herbie Hancock being incorporated with ripping guitar and saxophone solos create a wondering coloration of harmonies and style. They mix perfectly with the full and funky basslines by Stimulator and impeccable pocket sitting drums with well articulated drum fills by Chris who doesn't miss a beat. You could say Shmazz is a shmuper group of shminstrumentalist!

This was an incredible season finale for us and we couldn't have been more impressed by the performances and relaxed yet in depth discussions about the development of the group and other topics relating to the culture and current state of the music industry right now. Thank you Shmazz.

Episode No. 65
Guest: Coastal Muay Thai from Roanoke, VA
Interviews with: Frankie Vincent, Santino and Sebastian Lupacchino, and Isaiah Lawson

Special Musical Performance by: Chad Nickell and The Loose Change at 11:21 at Martin's Downtown Roanoke, VA

This week, the B&G crew headed to one of the East Coast’s premier Muay Thai gyms. We sat down with gym owner and former professional fighter Frankie Vincent, national champions Santino and Sebastian Lupacchino, and rising talent Isaiah Lawson. Each fighter was a part of a trip to Thailand this summer where they each won their professional debut fights. In our conversations, they opened up about their journeys in the sport and shared behind-the-scenes details that most outsiders never get to hear.

Alongside Themis our producer, Maxwell Klimczak, who joined the team in the Spring of 2025 and is coming off of recent wins at a PKB tournament in Charlotte, NC. And also former B&G guest and Klean Studios household name NMB DAN(Dante) has joined as well and is looking to make his debut fight this winter.

2nd Song - Schizo
3rd Song - Limerence
4th Song - Floatin'
5th Song - What Doth Life?

There's something wicked lurking on this week's super spooky episode of B&G. For our extra special Halloween Spook-tober Episode two of our newest team members joined us on the other side of the camera to bring some chaos down to Klean Studios.

The IVO Twins have a sound of their own, faced paced, aggressive, intoxicating. It's the perfect soundtrack for this spookiest of seasons. They brought out 5 incredible tracks for us, some unreleased HEAT, but they were even more excited to get on the couch.

The twins, affectionately known around here as Critter and Jay, have been a pleasure to work with and get to know, but it was always the plan to get them on the couch for some good ol fashioned B&G interrogation. They passed with flying colors and even delivered on some of the hot takes they've been promising.

Lock in, put your costume back on, and enjoy this TREAT of an episode, don't be a TRICK and miss it.

LET'S EAT.

 @dizgoband

This week we took a short road trip over to 5 Points Music Sanctuary to bring you a behind the scenes look at one of the most exciting music venues in the Valley. Tyler Godsey gave us the artists tour of the green room and more and then made a trip of his own out to Klean studios to go through our questioning.

Something a little different, instead of bringing you a musician we bring you a cultivator of musicians, as Tyler had played host to some of the best acts Roanoke has had the pleasure of seeing.

For our music we bring you some live offerings right from the stage of 5 points. An incredible jewel in an already stacked fourth season.

Oh, and did I mention Tyler is an EXPERT on biscuits. So we did the only logical thing. WE FINALLY EAT SOME BISCUITS AND GRAVY. And we learn more than we ever thought we could know about baking biscuits.

Don’t just sit there… LET’S EAT!

This season has been all about new experiences. We've heard more genres in Klean Studios then many thought was possible for the Roanoke Valley. This week is no different. We bring you the incredible sounds of reggae.

Our Guests, The Ambassador and Chosen Few, brought the vibes in Klean studios up so high I swear at some point during track 2 I started FLOATING. The energy these gentlemen have, coupled with the Ambassadors uplifting lyrics is truly a unique and exciting experience for you B&G fans. There's even a couple features from Doc Science. Magnificent.

There's some unreleased heat, some sweating and moving, and we finally get down to the bottom of our biggest mystery yet... What is "skank"?

Episode No. 59
Guest: Tesxla

Performance By: Maxwell Klean
https://www.instagram.com/maxwell_klean/

Setlist:
1st Song - 00:00 Why Not?
2nd Song - 18:32 Minimal Bling
3rd Song - 37:50 Chameleon
4th Song - 1:07:19 Ambition

While we are usually a music podcast we appreciate all art here at Biscuits and Gravy. And frankly we're tired of scrolling instagram and seeing pictures that look like they were taken by children and edited by younger, less capable children. So we asked our good friend Teslxa to come down to Klean Studios and give us a crash course on how to avoid taking photos like a caveman.

Of course we talke about more than that, she's a talented photographer and videographer who has worked with Polaroid, Fujifilm, and other cool brands. Her perspective is an awesome one because she's usually behind the camera capturing the coolest moments the valley has to offer. To switch things up we decided to point the camera at her.

There's also some excellent unreleased music from our very own Maxwell Klean, who raps like his rent is due and performs with the same energy he puts into every episode of this incredible show. Its electric and, of course, it's UNRELEASED HEAT.

You know what to do. Like. Comment. Send it to your friends. Put the link in your family group chat. And we'll see you next week.

Episode No. 058
Guest: G. I. Wonder
https://www.instagram.com/g.i.wonder/

Setlist:
1st Song - 00:00 VA pt. 1
2nd Song - 12:53 VA pt. 5
3rd Song - 42:11 The Steppers
4th Song - 1:03:31 Just Starting

Who’s the best rap group in VA? G.I. Wonder! There’s nothing like a good three piece lyrical trio, and these gentlemen from Lynchburg have a chemistry that makes their bars all the more powerful.

On the performance side their three man weave delivery leaves you little room to breathe as they deliver impactful bar after impactful bar. You haven’t seen anything like it in Klean Studios yet.

On the couch they’ve got incredible insights into breaking into the rap scene and navigating a world of influence and negative feedback to continue delivering incredible art. Oh, and there’s a trip through the Gauntlet we won’t soon forget.

You know what to do. Sit back, relax, and enjoy another episode of the best music podcast around. LET’S EAT.

This week on B&G, we turn the volume UP TO ELEVEN.

For our first foray into the world of metal, we reached out to the guys from Orenda, and they made the trip out to Klean Studios to show us what they were all about. The music was loud but it’s also incredible which is the best combination. Great vocals, good groove, and an energy that will blow you away. This one is can’t miss.

4 songs, 3 unreleased heat, all for you viewing or listening pleasure. Don’t forget to check out their Instagram and of course show us some love as well.

If there’s a local artist you want to see let us know RIGHT HERE IN THE COMMENTS.
