Sort of an accident that I saved the best for last. Like all the X-Men movies, except for a couple true stinkers (looking at you, Last Stand and Origins), APOCALYPSE gets better with each watching, and I actually liked it a lot when I first saw it, which wasn’t a popular opinion. The final battle puts the CIVIL WAR airport battle to shame in terms of both effects and true emotional stakes, and while it’s slow to get going, once Quicksilver shows up and the young ones start developing their powers things really take off in the second half of the film. If they can stick the landing next year with DARK PHOENIX, this new X-Men cast will go down as one of the best ensemble casts in any major film property in this Bizzle’s humble (and totally biased) opinion.

In “Out of Gas,” after Serenity suffers a catastrophe while on its way to Greenleaf on a mission that leaves her crew with only hours of oxygen, flashbacks show how Mal and Zoë acquired Serenity and assembled their motley band. This episode differs stylistically from the rest of the series in that it tells its story alternately in three timeframes: events in the present, events in the near-past that led to the present, and events in the more distant past that led to the assembly of Serenity's core crew.

Out of Gas was the eighth episode of the Firefly TV series and was first aired on Fox, on October 25, 2002.

Still one of my favorite movies of all time, for this commentary of THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN I finally have a Harry Potter expert (Simi Climo) to revisit this classic with. While I tackle some of the important film revelations - namely the brilliance of now-Oscar-winning director Alfonso Cuaron and then-teen actors Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson - Simi brings in lore, mythology, relationships, and more from both books and movies. This film is a masterpiece whether you aren’t a Harry Potter guy like me or are a huge one like Simi. Enjoy, Bizzlers.

After we start with about 15 minutes of giddy excitement about cast announcements for EPISODE IX and J.J. Abrams’s brilliant forethought to shoot extra Leia for THE FORCE AWAKENS that we will now see repurposed for the final chapter, we immediately dive head first into Star Wars comics in the Disney “canon” era. We of course spend most of our time on Vader series one and two and especially the magnificent, electric, stereotype-busting, lovably roguish Doctor Aphra and her incredibly unique and downright hilarious relationship with the Dark Lord as well as her own (mis)adventures. The Bizzle read over 3,000 pages of Star Wars comics over the past few weeks (no lie) in preparation for the first of what promises to be an entire mini-series of discussion about what have mostly been good to really good to occasionally excellent comics by Marvel in the Star Wars universe (see: “The Screaming Citadel” with Luke, Aphra, Han, Leia and company).
