Tarik lost 45lbs, reversed pre-diabetes, high blood pressure and most importantly is healing his Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS). Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) is a rare disease that affects the filters in your kidneys. When these filters are scarred, they are unable to filter your blood, which can lead to kidney damage and failure. Treatment for FSGS focuses on treating the symptoms and preventing any additional scarring. His doctors said they had never seen such improvement and to keep doing what he's doing. This is a bit of a departure from my usual podcast episodes about the carnivore diet, but I still think it's of interest to the Black meat eaters everywhere. I met Alex in a Clubhouse room about increasing the representation of people of color in the hunting community. Alex is an avid outdoors man, professional forester and founder of Legacy Land Management, a company that provides education and support for rural land owners. Hunting, as a way to provide for our families, is part of our heritage as Black people in America, but through racism we were pushed off of our lands and lost access to this important skill. As Black meat eaters, I think it's important for us to know this history and some of us may even be interested in getting back into nature for food and general restoration.
