Through leadership character, we can, and will develop many terrific skills that will catapult us to exactly where we want to be. On this episode of the BLX we discuss Love over War. Love usually will win out. Sometimes it can be difficult to love those who are not ready to receive it. You want to be there for them, but circumstances that are out of your control can make this experience turbulent. Sometimes we find ourselves having to take a step back and that’s OK. Love looks different for everyone. Some of us will grow frustrated with trying to love someone who is not quite available to receive love. As a result, conversations can become heated and insults can be thrown and so we must be mindful of what we are trying to accomplish. War is not the answer, but is it necessary to get through to the other side? We understand it can be difficult to take the highroad, especially when others are hitting below the belt. This is where self-control comes into play in a major way. Though we choose love over war, we also understand that it may get worse before it gets better. On this episode we discuss relationship goals. Mrs. Garrett and I love to set relationship goals. It keeps us evolving into better versions of ourselves. It keeps our relationship exciting. Working together is something we do very well. We allow our love to be on full display, no matter what we are involved in. we share ideas, concepts and goals to further our relationship. We also work hard as individuals to continue to bring love and light into our relationship. When we set relationship goals, it gives us something to reach for both as individuals and as a couple. Judging people is not ok. It’s no one’s job to judge another human being. When it comes to our partners we should be lifting as we rise. Encourage your partner to be better and show them with kindness that they are capable of being anything they want to be. When and if we judge our partners we are setting our relationships up for failure. Kindness goes much further. Being flexible can make a world of difference to our partners. Even if our partners are in a bad mood there are many ways to help them come out of it. A smile can go a long way in helping others to become more productive and comfortable. When we push passed judgement we show our partners how to make sound decisions. Leading by example will help others to see that they have other choices instead of just falling into what everyone else does. It makes no sense to judge your partner because after all we chose them right. If you judge your partner you are judging yourself. On this episode, we talk about seeing and acknowledging each other within our community. We all know how important a name is. We all know how important it is to be addressed by our names. We also understand how important it is, that we smile and greet one another within our community. Since slavery, we’ve had a very difficult time loving each other, and that’s because of the damage and the hatred, and the poison that was cast onto our African ancestors. The slave masters would teach the slaves how to hate each other in efforts to gain more access or favoritism by the slave master. Unfortunately many of these behaviors were passed on through multiple generations. To our kingdom, we should not hate each other. We should love each other every chance that we get. When Mrs. Garrett and I go out for dinner, we love using peoples names as a way to get their attention, and to let them know that we see them. There is so much power and empowerment when we use each other’s names to see and acknowledge our presence on this earth. On this episode, we discuss being a positive role model. A positive role model today doesn’t have to be a celebrity or any famous individual. A positive role model is someone who is contributing to humanity in a positive way. It’s a person who has great intentions and is actively working on being better versions of themselves every day. We are all role models in some sense of the words because people look at us in a plethora of ways, and sometimes they are seeking inclusion. We all want to be included in something or we all want to be a part of some type of group that speaks to who we are. So when it comes to being a positive role model, we have opportunities to influence not only ourselves, but the world around us. Being a positive role model is being self-aware of how your energy and actions impact others. It’s not living for other people however, it is thinking others first as you live your own life. We don’t have to always care about what people think we simply have to do what we say, and say what we do all while giving ourselves love and grace to hold space to process.
