A diverse crew of artists based between Manchester & London; including DJs, producers and vocalists, united by a love of soundsystem and street sounds. Swing Ting began as a specialist radio show before becoming a party in December 2008. Almost 9 years on and the dances currently take place every 3rd Saturday of the month at Soup Kitchen in Manchester.

Winter 2014 saw the inception of Swing Ting’s own label, seeking to provide a platform to release fresh music from the family as well as from friends, peers and like-minded producers. Since then the releases have flowed featuring; Brackles, Fox, Madd Again! (Zed Bias, Trigga, Killa Benz & Specialist Moss), Famous Eno, Florentino, Trigganom, Equiknoxx, Devin Di Dakta, Alexx A-Game, Epic B, Samrai & Platt. Resident Advisor profiled Swing Ting as their label of the month in September 2016. FACT magazine awarded the imprint their number one label of 2016 in December.

Swing Ting’s resident crew have built a strong reputation for rocking parties beyond just the UK, taking the Swing Ting sound on the road with bookings across Europe, Central America and the Caribbean. It goes without saying that The Blast are very excited to be welcoming the crew to Bristol on Friday 6th October for their Bristol In:Motion debut.

Kyrist is a Bristol-based drum & bass producer and DJ who will be making her Blast debut on Saturday 30th September as part of our massive Bristol In:Motion 2017 opening night lineup. You can catch her on the night in room 2 alongside a huge DNB lineup including S.P.Y, Breakage, Krust, Cyantific B2B Insideinfo, and the Blast’s own TS2W.

From her earliest DJ sets and releases, Kyrist has built a reputation for focusing on the darker more tech-led side of drum and bass, with releases on the likes of Proximity, Nurtured Beatz, Vandal and Dutty Audio helping her to gain wider recognition.

For March’s instalment of The Blast mix series, we have none other than Bassline and Grime legend Mr Virgo aka Mr V.

Mr V has been a staple of the Bassline scene from it’s inception and a long-standing grime producer, producing for acts such as Wiley and Giggs. He has recently just released an acclaimed E.P under the Crucast label with bigger things coming in the year, this high-energy mix is the perfect soundtrack to the baseline sound in 2017.

For the next instalment in our monthly mix series, we welcome rising star Otik.

Currently based in London but with his roots in the South West, Otik had a year of powerful releases in 2016, including the 'Acne Downs' E.P on The Blast's good friend Durkle Disco imprint, and a regular show on Radar Radio. Otik is looking to have an even stronger 2017.

This mix features a whole host of unreleased music from Otik and his peers, including a brand new track featuring Grim Sickers, forthcoming on Boom Ting Recordings.

Soul In Motion is a fortnightly mid-week Drum & Bass event brought to you by Bailey and Need For Mirrors. Following in the footsteps of legendary London mid-week events like Swerve and Movement, the pair strive to showcase a broad range of Drum and Bass with a focus always on the deeper side. Eindhoven born and now London based, Proxima has been involved in music for most of his life. Having initially produced and released Drum & Bass on labels including Renegade Recordings, Frequency and SGN:LTD. He then turned his attention to Dubstep and was quickly taken on board by scene leading label Tempa where he really found his stride, forging a reputation as one of the most talented and exciting up and coming producers in the scene.

With a collection of stand out releases between 2012-2014 including "Formal Junction", "Lie Detection" and “Thermal Vision”. Building up to his debut album “Alpha” that was released in December 2014 and features collaborations with Shogun Audio star producer Icicle, and vocals from Dnae, DRS, and P Money as well as the massive opening track “Trapped” which you’re almost certain to have heard rattling the speakers recently.

Since the release of Alpha, Proxima’s attention seems to have been turning back towards Drum & Bass, with 2015 seeing scheduled releases on a Hospital Records compilation, a remix for Shogun Audio, and of course his latest release the hallfstep DnB style single “Crane / Jibber” that just dropped on Australia’s Plasma Audio imprint on October 12th.

Whilst Proxima’s latest output sees a return to Drum & Bass, this mix showcases more of a classic Dubstep sound in keeping with his upcoming appearance as part of Youngsta’s Contact takeover in the Tunnel on Friday 30th October at The Blast Halloween Carnival of the Dead.

A regular face behind the decks at the Blast and one of our most highly rated DJs / Producers of recent years. Manchester based Chimpo is a proper all rounder and one of the most unique and solid talents in the UK right now.

As well as being a key member of the Levelz crew, Chimpo’s personal productions have seen releases on a diverse range of labels including Contagious, Stripes, Soul:R, Par Excellence, Exit and Metalheadz (alongside Fracture). With several weighty solo tracks under his belt as well as collaborations with the likes of Dub Phizix, Skeptical, Fracture and who can forget 2012’s massive “Gaza” with Chimpo’s frequent collaborator the legendary MC Trigga on vocal duties.

When he’s not behind the decks or pushing buttons in the studio, Chimpo also likes to get on the mic himself. Having lent his unmistakable Mancunian Baritone to the “Buzzin” collaboration with Dub Phizix & Skeptical, Enei’s massive “Headtop” on Critical Records, his stand out verses on crew cuts LVL07 and LVL09 as well as his recent “Backslang EP” on Par Excellence which included four entirely unique but equally amazing tracks all produced and voiced by the big man himself.  

Being the big fans that we are, we have been hounding Chimpo for a mix for quite some time now, so when he agreed to drop us a Halloween special we knew it was going to be good.

Featuring a proper sinister intro that includes legendary Birmingham MC Bassman making owl noises over the Saw theme (yes you did read that correct!), the mix quickly leads into a strong selection of classic horror movie soundtrack clips interspersed with everything from Dancehall to DNB to reggae to Grime and everything in between. Expect to also hear some pretty spooky sounding chopped and screwed re-edits of some of Chimpo’s own tracks too. Basically its amazing. And creepy as shit too!

Birmingham based DJ and Producer Mystry recently dropped his massive debut release on Stripes Records with the long awaited “Pulse 8 EP”. The lead track of the same name has been doing serious damage on radio and in clubs for quite some time, with DJ support from the likes of Logan Sama, Spyro, Maximum, Elijah & Skilliam, Huw Stephens and more (i-D called it ”the biggest grime instrumental of the moment").

Pulse 8 was also recently vocalled by JME for the opening track on his Album “Integrity” released last week. We first remember hearing it when the BBK team dropped it at the Red Bull Culture Clash at Wembley last Autumn and the place went mad!.

Mystry made his first appearance for The Blast earlier this year when the Stripes Records crew took over The Cave at The Blast x Black Butter. He will be back for round two on Saturday 16th May at The Blast x Swamp81 x Exit Records where he will be playing in the Sprung hosted Room 3 alongside Moleskin & Jammz plus Sprung residents Boycott, Linx and Lobby.

In Room 2 DBridge’s Exit Records crew hold court with Alex Perez, Mark System and Fixate. Whilst in Room 1 Loefah’s Swamp81 family will be taking care of proceedings with Loefah himself, Paleman, Pinch, Benton and Chunky. Special guests on the night include Kode9 and Breakage. We think you’ll agree this weighty lineup is definitely not to be missed.

Mystry's sound takes in pure fire Grime, Dubstep, Trappy 808s and dubby low-end rumbles with his signature fast paced mixing he crams in over 35 tunes in 56 minutes. Monkey Wrench make their Blast debut this month as part of the Stripes Records hosted Cave at The Blast x Black Butter records on Saturday the 28th Feb at Motion.

The Bristol based duo came through with their underground smash "Enemies In The Dance" alongside Spoils last year and since then they have gone onto remix Herve & Zebra Kats as well as playing at the likes of Bestival and Secret Solstice last summer. They recently guested on Monki's Radio One show for the "Lights On Mix". Having just released their 96 Grind EP which has been supported by B.Traits, Oneman, Monki, Klose One, Roska, My Nu Leng, Taiki Nulight, Rob Da Bank, Dismantle and loads more.
