The Blast bring new South West based Black Butter Records signee Applebottom to Motion for the first time on the 28th February as part of The Blast x Black Butter Records, and to celebrate we have got together with BB to present an exclusive mix from the man himself.

Having previously released on Madtech and Biasonic, Applebottom streams into the Black Butter Records camp with new single "Top Knott Wut / Young Money" incoming on BB on Feb 9th, with a minimalistic workout and a commanding bassline that has seen early support from the likes of Annie Mac, Monki & Sinden to name but a few.

Randall is a long term favourite of ours at The Blast so its an honour to have snared an exclusive promo mix from the great man.

Randall is what they call an original Junglist, the DJs’ DJ. If you ask Andy C or Friction who inspired their mixing style, they’ll say Randall. He started DJing in the mid 80s after hearing acid house at Notting Hill Carnival and quickly fell in love with rave culture.  After making a name for himself on pirate radio and the illegal rave circuit, Randall’s career really took off with his legendary sets at AWOL and World Dance. He fast established himself as one of the elite of the emerging drum & bass scene, with an unsurpassed tune selection and an impeccable reputation behind the turntables that he has maintained to this day. 

Now over two decades since he started spinning tunes, Randall remains one of the most forward thinking musicians and DJs on the drum & bass circuit so its a huge honour for us to be able to host this mix.

Flava D’s productions and Dj sets span the whole range of House, Garage, Hip Hop and Grime. In the clubs and on the radio her sets focus heavily on her own original productions, collaborations and remixes. Her Rinse FM shows over the last few months have been demonstrating how she puts together her current club sets and you can certainly get a feel from this mix.

Signed to Butterz in early 2013, Flava D has since released two critically acclaimed records for the label: 'Hold On' and 'On My Mind', a collaboration with Royal-T. She has also delivered a club smash 'In The Dance' for Formula Records. In between these her own download series has garnered attention from Fact, Mixmag, Dummy, SBTV and countless other websites attracting thousands of downloads (you can find all five volumes on FlavaD.com). Her next project, More Love is also on the way and her track 'Closer' featuring Miss Fire will be released on Roska's Kicks & Snares imprint on 14th Feb.

Flava D will be touring the US from 16th January, playing shows in NYC, LA, Boston, Minneapolis, Providence, Austin and Portland before returning to the UK for a string of shows including touching down in Bristol for The Blast at the end of February.

The third mix in our trio for The Blast x Swamp81 comes from none other than DJ Youngsta.

As the very special guest at The Blast x Swamp81 on Friday 17th October we thought it only right that we ask the FWD>> resident, Contact head honcho and RinseFM regular for a little taster of what we can expect from his set.

We're yet to receive a full track listing for the mix but it is safe to say that sure enough Youngsta has delivered us 35 minutes of pure fire.

The Blast are very pleased to have snared this exclusive mix from Paleman ahead of his upcoming appearance at The Blast x Swamp81 as part of In:Motion 2014.

We’ve been working on it for a while and patience has paid off as he's finally delivered a devastating 70 minutes packed to the brim with exclusives and unreleased material along with a few stone cold classics for good measure. We're yet to receive a full track listing for the mix but it is safe to say that the selection is nothing less than top drawer as expected. 

Over the last couple of years Paleman has evolved rapidly from a promising talent into one of the most devastating producers and DJs out there and has firmly placed himself as a favourite within Loefah’s Swamp81 camp, having delivered unstoppable sets at many Swamp81 showcase events including the previous Bristol appearance for Swamp81 at Motion in February this year.

With only a handful of official releases under his belt so far, Paleman’s tunes have lately been providing the highlights of everyone to Loefah to Boddika to Skream’s sets. “Furrball” – his first release on Swamp 81 along with Zed Bias – sold out before it even hit the shelves! and he has since gone on to release a second 12” on Swamp81 with the “The Day / Handy Clue” which dropped at the start of this year.

Paleman’s music is a refined blend of the classic and the current – simple and elegant, with the odd distinctive flourish. Echoes of the Hacienda and Paradise Garage, via Garage and Deep House – but still utterly contemporary. He is influenced by a wide variety of sonic influences  – Jazz, African and World Percussive pieces, Techno and House – with the common thread of being percussion focussed as you will quickly hear from this amazing mix. We can’t wait to here more from Paleman at The Blast x Swamp81 on October 17th as part of Bristol In:Motion.

Outlook Festival is fast approaching and this year Trap Magazine and The Blast will be linking up once again to host our very own – and no doubt very wavy – boat-party.

With grime heroes Kahn & Neek, Black Butter superstars My Nu Leng and D&B experimentalist Sam Binga all onboard, we’ve been counting down the days for months.

We couldn’t wait, though, so hatched a plan to enlist the guys playing our boat to produce a very special mix to showcase how it will be going down on HMS Wave on 5th September.

Bristol based but Birmingham born, Distro is a name who has been popping up with increasing regularity on Blast lineups over the last year and a half. With that many appearances under his belt we thought it was high time to ask him for a mix.
