At the very seat of yogic philosophies is the practice of Ahimsa; which is a practice of non-violence in all aspects of life including the physical, the mental and the emotional, not just towards those around us, but towards ourselves also.
When we are aligned in this practice we feel alive, vibrant and full of divine light.
When we're not aligned, we can feel angry, sluggish and even depressed. Often these heavy feelings manifest because of unconscious subtle daily actions we’re doing that contain elements of violence towards ourselves and were not even aware of it.
It can show up by harnessing negative emotions, not getting enough sleep and not setting clear boundaries for work time, private time and for screen time.
The practice of ahimsa really invites us to look deeply at our daily habits and reflect on how can we live better by listening to what our body & soul needs to be nourished.
Before we embark on this meditation, I want to share an exciting opportunity to deepen your yoga practice. My course, "An Embodiment Journey Into The Eight Limbs Of Yoga" is now available on Insight Timer.
Ahimsa is intricately linked to Yama, the first limb of yoga. This course spans eight days, each offering a 30-minute session exploring a different limb of yoga, delving into the ancient philosophy beyond physical postures. For the full course outline please follow this link.
