Pick And Roll: NBA Season Recap and Playoff Preview by Bob Long Sports

In this week's Villanova Basketball Report, we break down a big week for Villanova, winning two games, including against top-10 Marquette, and seeing the Golden Eagles lose two games to even the record in the loss column in BIG EAST standings. We evaluate the changes in the offense from week to week, and as a whole judge how the team has maneuvered a transition season with the four players leaving early for the NBA last year. We close the show with trivia, pick 'em, and tiebreaker conversation for the BIG EAST Tournament.

In this week's Villanova Basketball Report, with Bob Long, Kevin Long, and Kevin McClernand, we discuss Villanova's weekend of close calls, including an overtime win against Creighton and a one-point loss at Marquette. We evaluate the highs and lows of Phil Booth's season, as well as Jermaine Samuels' loathe to shooting in the most recent month of the season. We then pick up the Jermaine Samuels discussion at the whiteboard, and diagram how Jermaine Samuels needs to shoot the ball to stretch the floor and for Nova to be successful on ball screens. We finish the show with some BIG EAST trivia and our pick 'em segment.

In this week’s Villanova Basketball Report, with Bob Long and Kevin McClernand, we discuss the changing roles of Phil Booth and Collin Gillespie in the offense, and preview the top 15 matchup between Villanova and Marquette on Saturday (Start-33:15). We then went to the whiteboard and broke down how Villanova will need to throw different defensive looks at Marquette in order to be successful against Markus Howard and the high ball screen action that they run so well (33:30-41:50). BLS welcomed Derek Gerberich of Stathouse Analytics to the Villanova Basketball Report, to provide an analytical touch to our weekly discussion on Nova hoops. We previewed the Villanova vs. Butler game on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, and identified key trends and concepts that define each of those teams. This interview first aired at halftime of the La Salle College High School vs. Neumann Goretti High School basketball game broadcast.

In this week's Villanova Basketball Report, with Bob Long and Kevin Long, we discuss the past few weeks of Villanova basketball, specifically some of the major changes in the rotation, and the changing roles of Phil Booth, Collin Gillespie, Eric Paschall, Jahvon Quinerly, Dhamir Cosby-Roundtree, and more (Start-32:45). Bob then goes to the whiteboard to break down the changing role of Phil Booth being on-the-ball more often than before, as well as the struggles of Jahvon Quinerly defensively (32:50-42:50). We closed the show with our "Cats in the Wild" segment, highlighting Daniel Ochefu, and then made our picks of the best games of the upcoming week (42:55-Finish).

We break down each of the defensive mishaps on a possession-by-possession basis in the second half of the Penn game, and highlight how badly Villanova guarded the high-ball and off-ball screens. We then did our V's and O's whiteboard segment, where Bob draws on the board exactly how and where Villanova got beaten defensively vs. Penn.
