Show Description
🎙️ May Live Cast: Episode 1 — From the Firehouse to the Mic with Josh Hetzler ("Florian") 🚒🔥
👋 Episode Summary:In the kickoff to our May Live Cast line-up, we sit down with a true Renaissance man of the South Coast: Josh Hetzler, known in the music world as Florian. 🎵
Hosted by Bobby Couto alongside co-host David Sousa, and with Jody Jo running the boards keeping the energy flawless, this episode dives deep into a life defined by service, family, and creative passion. 🎚️✨ Josh opens up about what it was like growing up right here in Fall River—an upbringing that shaped his journey from serving on the local school committee to spending the last 14 years on the line as a dedicated Fall River firefighter. 🧑🚒
But public service is only part of the story. Josh pulls back the curtain on his life as a father of eight 👦👧👶 and how he channels his personal experiences, human connection, and a message of unity into a thriving hip-hop career. Taking his artist name from St. Florian—the patron saint of firefighters—he bridges the gap between the firehouse and the recording studio with absolute authenticity. 🎤🎧
Plus, we break up the talk by spinning two of his hit tracks live on air! 📻🎶
🗣️ What We Talk About:
🏠 Fall River Roots: Growing up in the city and how the local culture builds character.
📋 The Arena of Public Service: What drove Josh to step into the political ring on the School Committee and his 14-year career protecting the city as a firefighter.
👨👩👧👦 The Ultimate Balancing Act: Real talk on managing a chaotic, rewarding life as a father of eight.
🎙️ The Birth of Florian: How an upbringing raised on classic rock and a love for sharp wordplay evolved into a serious hip-hop journey.

April Live Cast Episode 2 — Marcel Riley | Mae’s Playground
In this powerful episode of The Bobby Couto Show April Live Cast, Bobby Couto is joined by co-host rapper Ya Boi Loco, with Jody Jo on the boards, for a heartfelt conversation with Marcel Riley, the founder and driving force behind Mae’s Playground.
Inspired by his daughter Mae-Ella, who is nonverbal and autistic, Marcel began by creating a sensory-friendly play space in his own backyard after his fiancée, Jessica, was diagnosed with stage 4 lung and brain cancer. What started as a father’s act of love has grown into a community mission to help bring a sensory-friendly playground to Fall River, giving children of all abilities a place where they can feel safe, included, and free to play.
Marcel’s story is about more than building a playground. It is about family, purpose, autism awareness, community, and turning pain into something that can help others. Mae’s Playground has been connected to plans for a sensory-friendly playground at Abbott Court in Fall River, inspired by Marcel’s work and vision.
This is the kind of conversation that reminds us why community matters — because sometimes one father’s love can spark a movement.

Episode 103: Inside the SVU with Det. George Duarte
Welcome to Episode 103 of The Bobby Couto Show.
In this episode, I sit down with Providence Police SVU Detective George Duarte, a specialist in human trafficking investigations and the host of The 10-8 Show. We go behind the badge to discuss the reality of violent crimes in our area, breaking down major operations like the 2017 "Fake Uber" predator case and the 2021 Olneyville sex trafficking bust that earned him national recognition.
We also tackle the tough, controversial issues currently facing Rhode Island, including the ongoing debate over decriminalizing sex work, the dangers it poses to vulnerable minors, and the push for "immunity in reporting" to ensure victims can come forward safely.
I’ve done this on my own. I haven’t had any help from anyone to build this platform, and I do it to bring you real, unfiltered conversations like this one. All of this is natural; all of this is organic. There is no paid outside advertising for The Bobby Couto Show. This is happening because you are listening. The truth will always prevail, and we will always be the ambassadors.
In this episode, we cover:
Det. Duarte's transition into the Special Victims Unit and his trauma-informed approach.
The digital forensics and police work behind catching a serial predator in the 2017 "Fake Uber" case.
Shutting down a major trafficking ring operating in plain sight in Olneyville.
Why Det. Duarte opposes full decriminalization of sex work but fights for victim reporting immunity.
Insights and stories from his own podcast, The 10-8 Show.

Episode 102: Bobby Walason – "Unmade" 🦇
Episode 102 features the one and only Bobby Walason, and we are laying it all on the table. We dive deep into his incredible book, Unmade: Honor Loyalty Redemption, and when I say we covered everything, I mean everything.
This isn't a Hollywood script; this is real life. Bobby takes us through the unimaginable—being thrown out onto the streets of Providence at just 12 years old, sleeping in cardboard boxes, and fighting to survive. We talk about his time at the Olneyville Boys Club, getting sentenced to the adult prison system at 16, and how his reputation for toughness drew the attention of the New England Mob.
We get into the heavy, gritty details of his time as a feared enforcer, the terrifying realities of the mafia-controlled streets in the 1970s, and the attempted hit on his life where he survived a 9mm bullet and a jammed gun to the head. But more importantly, we talk about how he did the impossible: walking away from organized crime without flipping, going into witness protection, or ending up in a shallow grave.
From the darkest corners of the underworld to building a successful life as an entrepreneur, Bobby’s story is the ultimate testament to resilience and redemption.
This is raw, unfiltered, and as real as it gets. Cancel your noise, turn up the volume, and do not miss a second of this sit-down.
Grab a copy of his book, Unmade, and strap in.
