🏈 2026 LINEMAN OF THE WEEK — WEEK 4

This week on the Bober Academy Football Podcast, we're headed back to my alma mater — Omaha South High School — to talk Packers football!

I'm joined by Head Coach Djuan Johnson, senior offensive lineman and team captain Diego Sanchez, and senior offensive lineman Ricardo Gonzalez.

Coach Johnson talks about building the Omaha South program by focusing on the process instead of the scoreboard and creating a culture where players believe in each other and play for one another.

And offensively, the Packers aren't trying to hide what they want to do.

They're going old school.

Omaha South runs a Single Wing offense built around running the football with plays like QB Wedge, Power and Counter. Up front, the expectation is physicality — move people, finish blocks and put defenders on the ground.

As an offensive lineman, I can appreciate that kind of football!

One of my biggest takeaways from the conversation was the culture and love being built inside this program. Coach Johnson, Diego and Ricardo talked about the bond this team is developing and what it means to represent Omaha South.

We also look ahead to one of the biggest games on their schedule: Omaha South vs. Omaha Bryan.

We used to call it the “Battle of South Omaha.” Today, it's the “Southside Classic.”

Whatever you call it, Coach Johnson and the players agree on one thing:

This game means something.

It's about school pride, South Omaha pride and two teams looking forward to battling it out on the field.

This week on the Bober Academy Football Podcast, we head to Elkhorn North High School as the Wolves take on the challenge of competing in Class A football.

Chris Bober is joined by Elkhorn North Offensive Line Coach Mike Zeplin, along with senior offensive linemen Parker Brown and Connor McCarthy.

We talk about Elkhorn North's transition to Class A, their 35–7 victory over Lincoln East for the program's first Class A win, and what the Wolves are learning as they compete at a new level.

Coach Zeplin, Parker, and Connor also take us inside the Elkhorn North offense, talk about the players who make this team go, and look ahead to their upcoming matchup against Omaha Westview.

One thing really stood out during our conversation: how close this team is.

The Wolves understand the challenge that comes with moving up to Class A, but they're embracing it together. There's confidence in this group, a belief in one another, and an attitude that they belong and are ready to compete.

He was a team captain and named to All America Team after his Junior & Senior seasons. Chris went undrafted in the 2000 NFL Draft & signed with the NY Giants. He was cut after his rookie training camp, signed to the Practice Squad & finally to the active roster for the 2000 NFC Champion Giants. Chris stayed with Giants 4 seasons becoming the starting Center in 2002-2003. In 2004 Chris signed a free agent contract with the Kansas City Chiefs where he played 4 seasons starting games at Guard & Tackle. Chris retired in 2008 after multiple hip surgeries.
