The Book of Ezra (Hebrew עזרא; Greek Έσδρας; Latin Ezra) is a text contained in the Old Testament of the Christian Bible.
It is written in Hebrew with some sections in Aramaic and, according to the hypothesis most shared by scholars, its final writing, by unknown authors, is placed between the late fourth and mid-third century BC in Judea.
It consists of 10 chapters describing the return of the Jews from exile in Babylon and the rebuilding of the temple (about 538-515 BC), and then the reforming activity of Ezra in Jerusalem (perhaps from 398 BC).
