  • Book II : Chapter XVI - Vic Bondi - Redshift (Articles Of Faith, Dead Ending)

The episode artwork this week is a photo of the gentleman caterwauling in the background at the top of the episode, my son, Canaan Peter Tanski.

Tonight I have the distinct honor of presenting my discussion with Hardcore LEGEND, Vic Bondi. Vic fronted the FIRST NAME in Chicago Hardcore, Articles Of Faith. He played in Jones Very, the first oh his supergroups, Alloy (with most of Dag Nasty!), Eidolon, Dead Ending ( with Derek Grant of Alkaline Trio), Report Suspicious Activity (with J. • Book II : Chapter XV - Friday the 13th with DROWSE (Kyle Bates)

Happy Friday the 13th! Who better to celebrate with than Kyle from Drowse (The Flenser). His new album, Wane Into It, is a sonic monument to grief, loss, and continuing to draw breath in the sheer face of utter loss. It was the dark horse waiting in the wings for my 2022 Albums of the Year on OffShelf.net, and is a multi-format experience, as the special vinyl edition comes with the chapbook Cloudlight Over Obsidian, a short story that rounds out the listening experience.

Kyle is a fellow writer, horror enthusiast, metalhead, and all around mench. All Drowse songs used by permission. You can find him at https://nowflensing.com, on Instagram @drowseportland, and streaming everywhere.

Theme music by Gown. Opening song is and ever shall be "Martyrs" by Heart Out.

  • Book II : Chapter XIII - "US" with Justin Pearson (Dead Cross, Deaf Club, The Locust, 3 1 G Records)

Hello friends and loyal listeners, and welcome to the FINAL episode of the show for the year 2022! This interview is a truly special one. Justin Pearson and I have been running across one another since 1997. In the intervening years, I have watched his trajectory with an awe and respect. This is a musician with drive, determination, and a pure individuality that has kept him playing music and releasing records since 1990.

Justin has played in over 15 bands, runs a label, is an author, and finds time to act. He was recently the subject of a fantastic documentary about his life and exploits, entitled "Don't Fall In Love With Yourself", directed by John Nix for TurnStyle Films.

This year has been the best yet for our show, and from Tiana, Canaan, and I, we would like to wish you all a safe and joyous holiday season and an incredible New Year.

Music Credits - "Ship Jumpers" by Pilot To Gunner, "Martyrs" by Heart Out, "The Book of Very Very Bad Things Theme" by Gown, "I Liner" & "Velvet Flesh Designs" by The Crimson Curse, "Ride With Cops, Shoot With Robbers" & "But Does It Fart" by Deaf Club, "Michael J Fox, Gnarls In Charge" by Head Wound City.

  • Book II : Chapter XII - Dana Janssen aka Dana Buoy of Akron/Family, The Angels of Light,

Tonight, we offer you Dana Janssen, who , with the help of Akron/Family, shook up the Indie Rock scene of the early oughts with an unhinged melange of folk, noise, and experimental rock. He'd gone on to Young God Records label mates (and label founder Micheal Gira's) Swans extension The Angels of Light.

Dana married and relocate tp Portland, where, amid a home festooned with house plants, composed (the inferred) percussion to Mort Garson's cult electronic album that dropped in the year of my birth, !976. That record, Mother Earth's Plantasia, never reached worldwide acclaim, but made a massive dent in the underground. With a sketch of percussion, Dana allowed his surroundings to guide him. This is the zygote of Experiments In Plant Based Music Vol.1.

We dig into the NYC of the early 2000s, the influence of Bob Dylan, early Dead, Sonic Youth, Swans, Tortoise... a segue into horror soundtracks, the trappings of being from the Eastern Pennsylvania area... An uplifting episode with a gem of a human.

Opening music Heart Out-"Martyrs"(written by P. Tanski, E. Brocious, Z. Wilson, J.Solimini) Heart Out courtesy of Midas Crutch Records, and ME!
