Tonight I am fully humbled by the kind and thoughtful consideration afforded to me by a gentleman so talented, so accomplished, that I feel utterly outclassed. The author in question? Nathan Ballingrud. Having constructed myriad short stories that traverse the miasma of dark fiction, and being forbear to the film "Wounds" (the short story "The Visible Filth", starring Zazzie Beats, Dakota Johnson, and a pre-controversial Armie Hammer) and the Hulu series "Monsterland" (based upon the collection " North American Lake Monsters"), Nathan is in a class by himself. This interview is a true honor. His kind words regarding my format mean literally everything to me, and it is not hyperbole when is say that he is my absolute favorite working author today. I challenge yo all to read "The Strange" and not be fully reduced to tears. A novel brimming with fantastique, love, and heart. The Predator Nominate, an Archival E.P., is the latest posthumous release from these Ohio heavy hitters. After the tragic loss of soul shaking funk bringing shaman Timmy Taylor, the band went silent until the release of a phenomenal documentary, as well as 2 archival releases prior. Tonight we dissect this upbeat slice of electro darkness with a maniacal master, Tommy Ratz. Tommy is slapstick silly, yet poised and profound, which speaks to the content of his work. Toilet Rats is a one man show, lending an added injection of Id into an already miasmic album. This is a record that revels in both misery and silly abandon in equal measure.

Tonight we premier the new single from Austin, Tx Post-Punk stalwarts Don't Get Lemon. A track that owes a debt to David Lynch's Blue Velvet as well as 80's Anglophile Pop and Gothic Pop. I was joined by vocalist Austin and Synth player Nick. We deftly dissect the etymology of the band's sound, former Post Metal projects, fascination with British Rhyming Slang, and much much more!

30 years ago, Lyricist and vocalist Mark Hennessy captivated my 17 year old mind with the southern gothic masterpiece "Dragline". His band, Paw, was a true outlier in the Grunge and Pop Punk infused landscape of the early 1990s, and that spirit of hard nosed individuality remains today with the stoner gloom and angry bombast that is Godzillionaire.

Tonight, we celebrate the newest single from the boys, a cover of INXS post punk classic "Don't Change", the unabashed thrust of the new outfit, and a love for words and music. This interview is the realization of years spent in awe of the sheer power vocalist Mark wields. We had the pleasure of speaking with the entire group, and I couldn't be happier with the outcome!

Tonight I share another lost episode, this tome with my buddy Corbin from the band General Labor. He had been the drummer of Catholic School for a time, but now he is fully enmeshed in his own project, having just released a soundtrack to the film The Adventures of Achmed, which is now available on cassette on Bandcamp. Brandon Phillips cut his teeth in his Ska-Punk institution The Gadjits, From the mid 1990s until 2004, they were a light in the mire of the Hellcat Records Ska-Punk wave. After having rebranded in the aforementioned year to Architects, Brandon moved on to Other Americans and Brandon Phillips and the condition, finally landing on his current incarnation.

Personal Book of Spells is his finest hour. He is at a creative apex, having also done a short film entitled Men Like You. Im so utterly elated to present this episode to you!

Two veteran members of the music community, Charlie Faye and Adrienne Lake, have joined forces to launch a new Austin-based creative services agency for music organizations and musicians. To celebrate their new business and provide a free educational opportunity for artists, they have teamed up with Austin Music Foundation to present a panel and mixer on team building for musicians.

The Thursday, February 9th panel, titled “Building Your Team, Building Your Music Career” covers preparing for and creating relationships with management, booking agents, licensing agencies, record labels, publicists, and consultants and takes place at Native Hostel in Austin, TX. Featured panelists are Traffic Music Group’s Kevin Wommack (Management- Los Lonely Boys, Lisa Morales, Jon Muq), Melanie Lane of M Lane Agency (Licensing- formerly of Universal Music and Bug Music), Atomic Music Group’s Enrique Bravo (Booking- Jenny & The Mexicats, Nortec Collective, El Dusty) and Samara Simpson of Spaceflight Records (Label- Urban Heat, Primo The Alien, Golden Dawn Arkestra) and will be moderated by Lake and Faye. The event is free to the public and includes a mixer after the panel.
