In this auspicious first episode where both hosts are in the same room we decided to go for a special Book Fight!. We discuss two stories we hated or at least one of us hated.

We have recovered finally from the Nantucket joke... sorta

Joel talks about the C. A. Fletcher novel, A Boy and his Dog at the End of the world, then after a master class in digression Stephen tries to get them back on track by talking about Daniel Abraham's A Shadow in Summer. 

The guys tackle two huge fantasy series. Robert Jordan's vast and influential Wheel of Time, and the criminally under-known George Lucas and Chris Claremont collaboration, Chronicles of the Shadow War. 

In our second (but this time planned) special episode the guys deep dive into a freewheeling discussion of the ongoing Jim Butcher series,  The Dresden Files. Beware of spoilers for just about every book in the series but please don't let that dissuade you from listening and of course you should definitely go read these books!!!

Stephen goes to another book-turned-TV show with Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman's collaborative work "Good Omens". Joel Kicks off NaNoWriMo with some advice from Tim Hickson's "On Writing and Worldbuilding".

Before we all start writing our own novels, let's dive into the excellent works that are Jim Butcher's Aeronauts Windlass, and Jeff VanderMeer's Annihilation. 

It's a short spooky read Halloween special! Joel takes us to the NoSleep subreddit and tells us about a search and rescue officer. Stephen takes us to explore life or death decisions in Kurt Vonnegut's short 2BOR02B.
