Today we have a special announcement! Ashley Wakefield will be joining Noah on our series through the book of Isaiah. Today for her debut episode we launch into the history of the Moabites and where they are located in the land of Israel. This is a shorter episode as there was less thematic content to talk about but it was still a blast to sit down and talk about this passage in scripture. 

Join us for this next episode in the book of Isaiah as we walk through the dense parts of this book, hoping to explain some of the foreign themes in Isaiah. Today were are talking about Bablyon and how Babylon can mean different things in different contexts. Noah explains a lot of the imagery surrounding how the ancient people's thought about the afterlife and also how this chapter is intended to show the futility of human strength and power.

This is the beginning of an oracles against the nations where Isaiah turns the judgement on the other nations surrounding Judah and Israel. In this episode Isaiah levels this judgement against Babylon and Noah discusses some of the themes that appear in this passage, specifically addressing the topic of the day of the Lord as well as the darkening of the sun and moon. 

Join Noah this week as we finish the final chapter in this first section of Isaiah. You've made it! Congrats on finishing the first major section of the book of Isaiah! This is a short chapter so Noah takes the time to walk through a few themes that have gotten overlooked in some of the longer chapters. He walks through two main ones, the name of the Lord and what that means for worship, and the Holy One of Israel. We are nearing the completion of the first large segment of the book of Isaiah so if you have been listening along since the beginning, congratulations. This week we dive into more messianic prophecy and talk about the importance that God places on his people becoming reunited under the throne of Jesse. This is a very hopeful chapter with God promising the people of Israel and Judah peace in the future. You won't want to miss this episode. 

Join us this episode as Noah tackles the long oracle from Isaiah in chapter 10. This episode turns to the Assyrians who have been the army that the Lord is using to punish Judah and Israel. God explains that this judgment that he is bringing will not last long and he will turn his wrath on the Assyrians as well. Then the remnant of Judah will be in peace and be taken back into God's family. However this judgement is not to be overlooked and the reason for this judgement is because the people of Judah and Israel are not taking care of the oppressed and the poor. Noah unpacks all of this in this latest episode and continues to work through this massive book that holds some of the most epic and beautiful scripture passages.

In this Episode Noah continues to work through a really rich passage of narrative and prophecy entangled with one another. He talks about the theme of water in the bible and the difference between good water and bad water. Also included in the episode is a brief explanation of Hebrew writing and how it can sometimes be confusing how the Hebrew writers communicated, as well as a portion dedicated to glory and heaviness and how those words are more similar in Hebrew than they are in English. 

Join us again for another episode in the book of Isaiah. Today we return to the historical context surrounding Isaiah's world and Noah explains the different nations that surrounded the people of Judah: Aram, Israel, and Assyria. He explains their involvement in the prophecies of God and also how they came into the land. 

As you probably know, Isaiah 7 often gets used in Christmas services to proclaim the virgin birth. Noah also walks through some of the unique ways that Old Testament prophecy is used and how different perspectives have been used on Isaiah 7.

Noah also explains more on the concepts of fire and trees in Isaiah which he first began in Isaiah 4. He talks about how the purifying fire makes its way throughout the entire book of Isaiah as well as the idea of heaven and earth overlapping at the temple in Jerusalem.
