There are publicists, and then there is Sally Burleigh.
With more than 30 years in communications, Sally has built a career on knowing what makes a story matter, who needs to hear it and how to get it noticed. She’s the Founder and Director of SBCo, an independent communications consultancy working across Australia’s luxury beauty, fashion, hospitality, travel, arts and design, media and lifestyle sectors.
Having spent decades working alongside high profile brands, local and global personalities, business leaders and some of the country’s most influential media voices, an instinctive connector, Sally brings a truly compelling combination of energy, experience, connections at every level and straight-talking strategic advice to every table she sits at.
After two years as the Sydney Director at large creative-comms agency purely driven by the bottom line, Sally returned to her own business in 2026, continuing to champion a more personal, senior-led approach to PR.
In this conversation, Sally and I discuss:
And much, much more.

Lucy Kough is a former advertising Creative Director and founder of Tap the Gap – a new Australian fintech platform and App that turns everyday spending into superannuation.
The idea is simple: your morning coffee, online shopping or everyday purchases can generate cashback that goes directly into your super. You can also round up purchases and put the difference towards retirement, or gift contributions to another woman’s super.
And Lucy’s reason for building is deeply personal. Her mum spent almost 50 years working as a primary school teacher, helping build other people’s futures, yet retired with very little super of her own.
Lucy saw first-hand how the way women work, take career breaks, care for families and earn across their lives can leave them financially behind long after the gender pay gap has disappeared from the headlines.
In this conversation, Lucy and I discuss:
The idea and inspiration behind Tap the Gap
Why there is a discrepancy in superannuation and financial success for women
The importance of taking a long-term approach to investing
Lucy’s founder journey, and what it’s like to lead a purpose-led business
How Lucy manages entrepreneurship with being a wife and mother
And much, much more.
