  • Heroin's Children: Inside the US opioid crisis - Fault Lines
The United States is going through the worst drug crisis in its history. It now claims more lives than gun deaths, tears families apart - and shows no signs of abating.
As US President Donald Trump declares America's opioid crisis a "national emergency," Fault Lines looks at the "invisible victims" of the epidemic - a generation of children who are being neglected, abandoned or orphaned by parents addicted to heroin.
So, how is the opioid crisis shaping the next generation of Americans?
Josh Rushing travels to Chillicothe, a small Ohio town at the centre of the drug crisis, to meet a teenager who lost both her parents to drugs, a mother whose heroin addiction led her to overdose in front of her young son, a grandmother unexpectedly raising four granddaughters, pregnant women struggling with addiction, and police and firefighters responding to harrowing overdose scenes.

  • Undocumented in Trump's America - Fault Lines
The removal of undocumented immigrants from the US is at the centre of US President Donald Trump's domestic agenda. Two executive orders signed five days after he took office signal a radically broad approach to immigration enforcement.
While deportations under the Obama administration reached record highs - just under half a million in 2016 according to statistics from the Department of Homeland Security - it appears the Trump White House is determined to go further, and faster.
President Trump has promised thousands of new Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers and border patrol agents in a bid to execute harsher punishments for immigration violations and facilitate deportations.
With local law enforcement threatened into proactive action within their own communities, immigrants have also mobilised to try and better understand their options and rights should ICE come knocking on their doors.
Fault Lines' Josh Rushing explores the shifting sands of deportation, speaking to families caught in the dragnet and communities determined to fight back.

  • State of Denial - Fault Lines
Within the first few days of Donald Trump's presidency, environmental activists and scientists watched with alarm as the Obama administration's data on climate change simply vanished from government websites.
It was the first of many steps that made it clear that this administration would be taking a vastly different approach to confronting global warming than its predecessor.
For Republicans, having a friend in the White House means they now have an open door to strike down key regulations that will be a boon to the energy industry. It's a path they had been building well before Trump took office, with Republicans not only denying that humans are increasing global warming - but accusing scientists of lying to the public.
As a new administration takes power in Washington, Phil Torres explores what the Trump era will mean for the scientific community - and the future of the planet.

  • The Prison Factory - Fault Lines
The US state of Alabama has the fifth highest incarceration rate in the world. Its prison system has become so dangerously overcrowded that in 2016, for the first time, the US Justice Department launched a federal civil rights investigation into the entire state's prison conditions.
Meanwhile, prisoners have been taking matters into their own hands. In September 2016, inmates at Holman Prison went on strike to protest what they call cruel and unusual forms of punishment - including labour, for little to no pay. Inmates used smuggled cell phones to spread the word about the strike, which took hold in about two dozen states.
How did a group of prisoners calling themselves the Free Alabama Movement organise the single-largest prison strike in US history? Fault Lines' Josh Rushing traveled to Alabama to find out more about them - discovering two of the group's leaders are now in solitary confinement. Despite their isolation, through letters and videos they are still finding ways to get their message to the world.
