We’ve done a few episodes on the proposed UCP curriculum now, but all of those have been on the level of academic critiques by subject matter experts.
But this proposed curriculum has also mobilized everyday Albertans in tremendous ways. To get a better understanding of what their concerns are, we reached out to the Albertans Reject Curriculum Draft Facebook page and had conversations with 3 of the members, which we’re presenting in 3 separate episodes.
In Part 3, we chat with Dr. Angela Grace, a Psychologist who is deeply invested in the quality of the curriculum that Alberta’s kids are taught, not only because she views it through the lens of a Counselling Psychologist but also because before the obtained her PHD in psychology, she was a teacher who saw first hand the impact that curriculum can have own the wellness and development of children. Dr. Grace also has the insight of having worked on the previous curriculum draft and was generous enough to share her serious concerns as to how Jason Kenney’s curriculum draft was created and what she believes the catastrophic long term impact of it will be.
