A mix to help us celebrate our 25th Birthday Party! Our man in Japan, Kazahaya, is flying in from Japan for the party so who better to put together a mix for the occasion

Kazahaya can do it all: a super dope producer of heavy hip-hop beats and soul cuts, a dope DJ and a deep record collector. The mix starts off with some Breakin Bread tracks before breaking out for deep soul territory.

Enjoy and help us celebrate 25 years of Breakin Bread!

A mix to mark 25 years of Breakin Bread!

In May 1998, we held the first Breakin Bread club night at the Brix in Brixton. The club spawned a record label, radio shows and numerous gigs all round the world. Due to family commitments we no longer release records but we’re still doing events and radio shows...yep, we’re STILL ROCKIN’!

To mark our quarter-century anniversary we’ve asked DJ’s that have contributed to our radio shows over the years to create celebratory mixes. The first of these mixes is from our great friend in Vienna DJ d.b.h. who thought it was only right to put together a mix of his favourite tunes from the Breakin Bread label over the years

All of our styles are on this mix - soul, funk, hip-hop, beats and breaks!

A massive thanks to DJ d.b.h. and all the DJ’s that have contributed to our radio shows and events over the last 25 years!

d.b.h is DJ and producer of the Austrian turntablist and beats crew Restless Leg Syndrome and the legendary hip-hop crew Total Chaos.

DJ Moneyshot takes it deeper on this mix. Always searching for breaks, but not just the standard breaks......I'll let Moneyshot himself introduce this mix:

"About ten years ago I heard an old 70’s soul tune that had the most bonkers drum ’n’ bass-style drum solo in in it, and it got me thinking – What other dusty old records from the seventies had these kinda ‘proto-jungle’ drum grooves in? Ever since, I’ve been putting any funk, soul, rock, prog, jazz, psych, exotica and library tracks to one side that fit the brief. And, recently, I’d found enough for a mixtape.  So, here it is – Jungle Funk. Over an hour of deep dug breaks and beats from the four corners of the globe. All cut up by me, with a load of spoken word, rave tape pack, TV and film samples thrown in over the top for added jungalistic context. Rewiiiiiind, my selecta!"

DJ Moneyshot is a stalwart of the UK scene and has contributed a number of dope mixes to BB over the years

He's also a key member of the Allergies, check out their latest album "Tear The Place Up"

March saw our first Brentford Soul Allstars party at The Lord Nelson and…..WOW….did Brentford turn up!  Skeg & Steve The Sleeve played to a packed dance floor all night & nobody wanted to leave when the lights came up

We've been running Breakin Bread since we first started putting on nights in 1998, 25 years, that's a long time and we've put on a lot of nights over the years

As we get older we figured its time to put on a low key night in our local area. If you fancy a night out in a decent pub with good people, good vibes and top notch music then come and join us

In advance of our second party, Steve The Sleeve put together this mix of what you can expect to hear down the pub - all things related to soul with a bit of funk, disco, breaks & beats all thrown into the mix

We’ve been promised a bigger dance floor space for our party on Friday 5th May - hope to see you there but if not sit back & enjoy this mix!
